10 King's Ransom 0.665 NEW 1508 441 0.67
Glad to see King's Ransom at the bottom, Sad to see the steady decline for Sin City. Wish Kung Fu Hustle was higher up (one case where I DO think the R-rating hurt it).
That is all.

Doubtful.
With XXX: State of the Union (if it opens at half of the original - $44 million - it will make about $22 million, or about what The Interpreter opened at this week), and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (with a cult following and decades of waiting), I don't think The Interpreter will stay in the number one spot.
Which is a shame, because it's a fairly good movie...

Interpreter will probably get bounced to #3 next weekend. I expect the cult of rabid "Hitchhiker's Guide..." fans (including me) to give it a pretty big opening weekend, but then it'll most likely drop off sharply in the weeks after. I'm guessing the lunkhead sequel to XXX will probably be in the top spot. I can't decide who's acting cred is going down the crapper faster, Ice Cube or Ashton Kutcher.

It's nice to see a halfway intelligent, adult film at #1 for a change.

Man... Talk about a bomb. Anyone know how much the budget for State Property 2 was? This sounded like a direct-to-video movie that somehow made it to theatres.

Well, Hitchhiker is a classic book, millions have read it, I'm assuming, I'm not one of them, although I've been meaning to for about 10 years.
I think based on the popularity of the book and it's fans it can do $35mil easy.
