New version of Fargo SE?

I bought Fargo: Special Edition right when it came out. It was doubled sided with fullscreen on the flip side. Today at Circuit City I noticed Fargo: SE without the slipcover. I looked at the back and noticed that the fullscreen icon was gone from the back. Did this get reissued without Fullscreen? Is it still doublesided? I would love to get rid of my doublesided one.

That seems likely. MGM has been dropping the second sides of some of their two-sided discs (DVD-14s), although the prices have come down as well. So, if all that Fargo has is the fullscreen transfer on the other side, that's what would get dropped. I recently got Thelma and Louise for under $10, and it didn't have the second side with the additional special features, but it did have disc artwork, so that wasn't too bad.

Also, I believe the UPC codes are the same. DVDProfiler only has the one version in its database with the extra supplements which came up when I entered the UPC from the cut down version. So, if you see one of the older versions marked at a higher price as the cheaper versions, you could try to buy it to see if it scans for the lower price.

I went out and bought the version in question today. Here are the differences between the old(w/slipcase version) and the new one.

The new one is a single sided disc with artwork.
ONLY widescreen.
has the same upc as the old one.
No slipcase
No insert
doesn't have the "map" on the back of the cover art.

Content wise everything is the same on both discs. I like having a single sided disc much better than a double sided one. I took the new disc, put it in the old case and gave the other one away.

I got Fargo: SE from CH. No slipcase, but it does list "Widescreen" and "Standard" on the back.

So I guess if you have the first edition with these neat extras: plastic, see-thru slipcase, map, insert, you have a collectible. Fullscreeen aficionados (whoever they may be [they exist, I've seen them in stores!]) should also take note.

Map? What!? Holy cow, I didn't know about that.

Ok, how many other covers have secrets printed on the back of them, and aren't just blank or bilingual?

I bought Fargo SE WS only at Circuit City to replace my SE WS/FS flipper. It was only $3.99. I open it and it's the same WS/FS flipper. The back of my old one say Widescreen and Full Screen. The new I bought said Widescreen only. What a rip. I''ll take it back and swap it out
