Star Wars : Revelations. Holy Fan Film Batman!

Didnt find a thread on this - Just downloaded it - holy carp its well made!!

yes acting is as always in fan films a bit on the iffy side, but decent by those standards and the production values are insane!!

I got a torrent link of slashdot.. The main website is www.panicstruckpro.com/revelations but its getting a bit hammered!

Whaddyathink?

It's also up at TheForce.net if you can't get it from the main site.

Anyway, I haven't watched it yet, but it certainly looks ambitious for a fanfilm. The CGI could almost still pass for TV grade SFX, which is alot more than you usually get with these sorts of things.

Sorry, but this fanfilm looks horrible just like all the fanfilms before it. I wouldn't pay $2 dollars to see this garbage.

Well, I was fully prepared to sit down and watch it last night, but it wouldn't work. The trailers did, and wow is the acting bad. That's what you get for hiring your best friends who "love theater." The production value seems otherwise great, although there are a few shots with the hallmark of fanfilms - tripod shots with far too much headroom!

Personally, I was distracted by the fact that the chick playing the Emporer's Hand looks like someone hit her in the face with a shotput. That, and Declan looks like a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Is this the fan film where George Takai reprises his role as Sulu?

Has anyone seen the Dark Redemption fanfilm? How does Revelations compare to it? I thought the DR was okay, but I could tolerate the film pretty well because I think Leah McLeod (Mara Jade?) is pretty cute.

I have my less-critical-hat on when I watch these things.. Yes, it likely wont sweet the oscars, but this is done by a fan community (and one dude that mortgaged his home) and as such it is pretty mind blowing.

I have not seen one liveaction/sfx fanfilm that gets even close.

I find the abundance of overweight jedis and smugglers in SW fan films disturbing.

Wow! The acting is so bad I almost confused it with one of the prequels!

Mirrors:

I just finished watching it... well, it was okay - decent.
BTW: I know many of you hate the mov fomar because of the quicktime player, but give the quicktime alternative and the media player classic a try, you can easily play mov files in full screen.

Only watched the first few minutes, but it's pretty impressive. Excellent CGI work, very cinematic. Nice star wars look. Acting is a mixed bag, of course.
