Hey all. I recently put some old family moves onto DVD, and would like to design the DVD case for it (these are all single 1 disc amrays). Anyone have a template where I can cut and paste my own images onto it (front, back, spine?? ) Thanks

They might be for weenies.. but I whish that somebody would make say a "NBC", "CBS", "FOX", "SciFi_Channel"... templates that would have each of the broadcast logo's "CLEAN" as part of the template and most of the needed copyright info much as the main studio templates that are out there have...
If somebody has such templates please let me know where to grab them!!

Well, I don't use Photoshop so I can't really give you a detailed answer, but all you should have to do is open the blank template in PS (if PS isn't the default program for .jpeg files then right-click on the file and select 'Open With'), then open your image file in a separate PS window by going into the File menu and selecting Open, then just copy it (ctrl-C) and paste it (ctrl-V) into your blank template. Use the Selection tool to designate a particular area you want to paste it into and then check the options in the Edit menu - there should be separate pasting options like Paste Into Selection, Paste as a New Image, Paste as a New Layer, etc.
I can't seem to be able to change the font for the text, or swing the text round for the spine. Any suggestions there would be nice too :)
I'll send you some links that should help you get the info you need.

If you have Photoshop 8, stick with that. PS is the very best image editing program you can buy. Short of upgrading to PS CS, you can't get better. It supports pretty much every image file type in existence.

Hi all,

Thanks by advance for your help.

Thank you very much for all your time and advice. It is greatly appriciated :)
I'll let you know how I get on, and post some pic's up of my efforts.
Here is what I managed to come up with using Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker 2.34
I used whatever images I could find off of the net. I placed the bravo image in there as I recorded the series from bravo with my capture card, and just decided to make a dvd cover for each season for my self. I would use screen shots captured from the dvd, but I just wanted to try it out quickly to see what I came up with.
Please critisise/comment and advise, This is my first attempt at a custom dvd cover/inlay so dont go easy on me if theres somthing bad I prefer for people to be honest then I can rectify it in my work later :)
Again Thanks very much for all the help and advise so far, I'll get on with some reading of all that infomation

Not bad for a first effort. A few of your pics are unnaturally compressed or stretched - you should try adjusting the size of your target box and source sample box to get a less morphed look to the images. The shape of your source image (or the portion of it that you sample) should be about the same dimensions, roughly, as the target box your pasting into or else it gets squeezed or stretched. It's also apparent on the Universal logos. The other thing is you'll want to make sure you have good hires images to work with. Anything less than 150 dpi is not really suitable for big pics on a cover. And greatly enlarging a small pic will also result in a significant quality loss. Have you tried any of the .eps logos I sent you yet?

Seriously, if you have Photoshop 8 I'd abandon all these other programs and stick with that exclusively. It takes a little longer to learn, but it will be well worth it. You'll have more tools and filters at your disposal than with 100 of these label-making softwares. It's like you have a Mercedes in your garage, but are insisting on driving to work on an old moped.

Rogue588 has been kind enough to host the .zip file with all the blank cover templates.
You can get them all here (http://members.aol.com/rogue588/DVDTalk/template.zip).

I used Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker 2.34 just for a tester.
I'm not quite up to scratch with photoshop 8 cs yet, I used to know the program very well. However I have had very bad problems with my memory so I am having to re-learn it all :( I'll get there in the end.
I have so far only used pics from the net, so they are not very hig res. I need to find somewhere to get some hi res pics and probally use an image capture from in somthing like power/win dvd 6.
I've not used any of the logo's you have sent me yet (which I am truely greatful for, as well as the templates), I'm just starting to try to get to grips more with PS8 CS.
I have a WIP as I'm working on a cover for the simpsons (as I compiled all my videos), I have one of those 10 disc case things which have a spine about double the width of a single dvd case. Im trying that with the UK SLIM 10 (I think that's the one Im meant to be using).
In PS8 CS Im finding that I have to resize the image before I move it across to the cover, which is annoying cos if it isnt the right size I have to delete it and re size the original image again.

Can somebody please email me the logos? [requests_at_obliquitous.com]
They'd be a nice addition to my collection.
Nero: Copy the template and work on that. It'll save you having to move it across and you can see how to scale it there. Although most stuff will appear really really small if it's only 72 dpi.

Here is the custom cover for the simpsons seasons 1 to 15 that I compiled onto dvds from my video tapes (thought I'd better since I wont be having a video to play them on soon, and thought it to be the best way to preserve them) I done this on Photoshop 8 cs, which is my first ever cover designed on CS
I have also posted one for my south park collection, that I have taped over the years then put from video to dvd. This one was done using Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker 2.34
I would like to know of a site wher I could download some high res images, if I can. Other than that I could use a screen capture in one of my dvd programs (power dvd or win dvd)
Again they are only tester's so not very professional or anything like that
and again any advice will be greatly appriciated
All the images are from the web, so still no high res and I dont think I have kept the natural shape
This is the simpsons one. I used PS 8 CS for this one (the first cover I have done using this) It is meant for a 10 disc amaray case, I have the spine done right Thanks to the templates credit to joliom, however Im not sure if I used the right template as it has fallen a little short and when it printed it cut down the length a bit :(
can i have pds templates and logos so that i can just place my own pictures and make a professional case cover with all the logos (18), subtitles, bar codes, zone, languages, etc... I just need the template with that all ready so that i can use the fantastic work i did with photoshop as poster of my movie... but I am in a hurry against time!!! I need so much help.. I knew there was some software that made it... I had one last summer but I deleted it later by accident.. and it was like that, it brought the templates and i only had to choose my own pictures to place the way i want with all the layers of logos on the poster.. it was fantastic...
