They're used DVDs, of course. I've never bought DVDs from them, but the CD's I've ordered have all been in great condition.

From an email I got from them:
SecondSpin.com is where you always get cheap prices on used music & movies, so when we have a sale, it's a big deal. Right now, save 25% on ALL DVDs...not a puny selection of lame titles, but ALL DVDs - movies, music videos, TV boxed sets, all of 'em.

Hurry though for the best selection and before this sale ends on Sunday, April 17th! Start shopping now!

Thats pretty good. I browsed around and did a search for a few titles I was looking for but they didn't have much I wanted. I have bought cds from them before too and they were usually in pretty good condition. I used to find some HTF/rare cds too.

Thanks a lot for the post! The sale makes for great prices on the X-Files seasons. I'm finally getting closer to completing the collection.

Just picked up King of Queens: Season 1 for $15.71 + 3.59 in shipping and sales tax...

not bad considering most places i go selling used box sets, sell this for no less than $25

wish they had Everybody Loves Raymond....o well

One note: they place SKU barcode stickers over the actual product UPC and some of them use a pretty strong glue. If you are buying a box set, you may end up with a slightly torn or sticky cover.

Ooooooh yeah. I remember their barcode stickers from buying cds. I just replaced the jewel case instead of attempting to pick it off. Stock up on your goo gone.

Picked up some anime I wanted. Better hurry, they sell out quick.

I just noticed they charged me sales tax too, and I live in Ma. Their FAQ says their "parent company" owns retail stores in certain states. Which company is that?

I had about eight or nine titles in the cart until I went to checkout and saw that S/H and tax added almost $10. So I cleared out anything that wasn't essential and wound up with five. A lot of junk on the site, but my best find was the George Carlin Doin' It Again/Jammin' in New York set that retails for $25 (if you can find it), for $11.

I called their costa mesa store and the rep told me that the online site is considered a seperate entity from their retail stores. They have a different inventory and seperate promotions. No offers/sales for dvds at that particular store.

gonna get heat for this..

Pearl Harbor (Vista Series Director's Cut - 4 Disc) (DVD) 7 <s>$15.95</s> $11.96 (cheapest on dvdpricesearch, is like $17 shipped from north american dvd which is prolly a typo as they're useless, so it's probably more like 26, less 10% plus s/h from dvdsoon and a wait)

and if you really love the film,

Pearl Harbor DVD Gift Set (Feature Film/ Beyond The Movie) (2001) (DVD) 3 <s>$29.95</s> $22.46 (cheapest on dvdpricesearch is like $33 (less 10% plus s/h from dvdsoon, plus the wait)

For gbub... The Fox War Classics version (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005PJ8T.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) has both DD and DTS and it's still very much in print... Prior to the current printing, it was issued in DD form with the Melanesian songs extra (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/6305438218.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) and as a DTS release sans the extras (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005221N.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg). Technically, both are OOP, although the Fox War Classics version is the same disc as the DTS release with a different cover, if I'm not mistaken. :)

:hscratch: I guess I should have looked a little closer at those. The Fox Wars Classics one just looked to me like a barebones re-release. I assume I ordered this one http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005221N.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg. I suppose it's hopeless that it has a higher bitrate dts if it doesn't have the extras?

Ok, never mind.

Lol, This is sort of fun, sometimes you lose things, sometimes you find new things. :) I had been looking since yesterday around lunch and finally placed my order this afternoon. Lost South Park Season 1 and Seinfeld Season 3, but gained U2: Go Home Live.
Ended up getting:
Seinfleld Season 1&2
Project Greenlight Season 2
U2: Go Home Live
Nickelback The Videos

Seinfeld & Project Greenlight were way cheaper than anywhere else I looked. I've been trying to not buy as many dvds....but I can't keep away from the forum....then this deal comes along, lol.

This was the first and last time I order from them. Not only did they not have half of the things I ordered in stock, but my order is completely messed up. I ordered the Beavis & Butt-head Halloween/Christmas special. Instead, I got a different B&B-H DVD all together; one I have zero interest in. On top of that, I take the DVD out of the box and I can hear the disc rattling around inside. Then, my Magnificent Seven DVD is also going all over the place when I take it out of the box. I take off the plastic, open it up and to no surprise, there are scuffs and scratches all over the disc. I'll be emailing them about a return, but I'm absolutely turned off from ever buying from this place again.

A couple of years ago I wrote a very long letter to Secondspin
with suggestions on how they could improve their shipment
of dvd's. I even enclosed pics and example with a order
I was selling them. All they had to do was put something
inside the dvd cases. And that would solve so many complaints.
But alas Nada. Its sort of like dealing over in the dvd trade
forum. Some traders ship box sets in bubble mailers
and do not put anything inside the cases.

Anyways..I now only sell to them. If you notice any dvd's
with 2 pieces of bubblewrap with a hole cut in them.
Those are probably mine. Unless they removed it
before shipping out.

Jah-Wren Ryel

For a suggestion-complaint like that, you are probably better off mailing it to the office of the CEO. His secretary might actually forward it to someone who cares, but mail sent to any of their regular customer service addresses is more than likely to go into the circular file. This is TWEC and they have such crappy processes at all levels of the company that you just can't count on them doing anything right.

Al Padrino

As picky as they are when I send them stuff (only accepting mint and perfect items) I recieved items that don't meet that same criteria.

If you are looking for some Criterions, believe it or not, Ultimate Electronics has some -- even at their out-of-business sales. I saw atleast one I can remember, but I was just quickly scanning the DVD's to see what was there, so I do NOT know how many or which may be there. Because of this forum and the intro herein to it, the Criterion label stuck out to me and due to the "exclusivity" (IMHO) of the Criterion, it was surprising to me to see them in an Ultimate Electronics of all places.

YMMV.
