Der Untergang/Downfall?

Does anyone know when a region 1 version of this film is comming out? I saw it in the theatre and it was amazing. I know that the German version has already been released, but I don't have a code-free player. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested in this as well. Downfall and A Very Long Engagement are my most anticipated foreign releases. I doubt it'll be soon though; the official "Limited Release" date was Feb 18, 2005.

Not any time soon...at the earliest I would assume late, very late November/December. In addition to the already out German and Dutch versions the UK version has been set for a September release.

Regards,

I haven't seen the movie, but went ahead and ordered a R2 copy anyway. I rented DVD of the interview with his secretary about his final days a while back and thought it was interesting. Considering Der Untergang is based on her story, it should be good.

Thedigitalbits.com is reporting that Downfall is going to be released on 8/2/05. No specs announced though. I'm anxiously awaiting this release since the movie wasn't shown in theaters in Puerto Rico.

This movie was fantastic. After catching it at the theater here, I immediately went online and ordered the R2. Well worth a blind buy for those who are even remotely interested.

I'm gonna wait and see if the Extended Edition comes out (if it ever does) before I buy the Region 1 edition.

Considering that the movie already runs nearly three hours, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an extended edition. However, you may have heard something to the contrary. In any event, I already have the R2 German release, which is superb (especially the DTS track, which is awesome).

From www.dvdanswers.com:

Title: Downfall
Starring: Bruno Ganz
Released: 2nd August 2005
SRP: $28.95

Further Details
Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment has also released artwork for Downfall which stars Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler. This award-winning movie tells of the Nazi dictator's final days in his Berlin bunker, and will be available to own from the 2nd August this year. The retail price should be set at around $28.95. I'm afraid we have no further details on this one at the moment, but we've attached the artwork below:

You can see the cover art in the link above.

According to DVDEmpire...

http://www.dvdempire.com/exec/v4_ite...item_id=690025

R1 Downfall will have a directors commentary, Making of, and Cast and Crew Interviews.

I have seen this stated at other websites too. I don't know if it is correct because I have seen conflicting information. I also heard that the interviews could last around 100 mins which would be worthwhile. I hope it is good because I am looking foward to getting this DVD!

I may double dip on this one if the extras are good enough, although I am definitely keeping my R2 German premium edition because of its wonderful DTS soundtrack. Honestly, I cannot recommend this film highly enough.
