I really like FPS style games. Am presently playing Killzone (PS2). This game rocks!! I have recently enjoyed playing Mercenaries, Deus Ex, Siphon Filter, Half Life and the various Tom Clancy titles. I want to try some new FPS games that I might have missed or overlooked. What would you recommend as a good FPS game on either the PS2 or Xbox platform?

Mercenaries isn't a FPS, so I assume you are open to third-person shooters as well?

I would reccomend Chronicles of Riddick. Halo is the obvious choice but I found it too repetitive in parts (The Library).

Also as a Third Person Shooter I would reccomend PSI-Ops, so much fun tossing people around with telekenesis. Freedom Fighters is great as well.

I'm having fun with Doom 3 on XBOX. Co-op on Live is a blast!

Obviously Halo

Project Snowblind was fun, Timesplitters 2 is a classic, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein was pretty fun as well.

I enjoyed Timesplitters 2 before I got an Xbox and Halo, but I've been enjoying the new Timesplitters game immensely. Not quite as polished graphically as Halo or Riddick (which is great for single player) or Doom 3, but if you enjoyed the original N64 Goldeneye, it's a blast.

Timesplitters:Future Perfect is a fun game. Short single player, but a lot of options. LIVE play is fun, you can also play with bots. Mapmaker to boot....

Of course, Halo/Halo2
Ghost Recon 2
Rainbow Six series
Doom 3 is decent....seems to be a love/hate game though
