video noise through dvi-hdmi cable?

Hello,

I've got a sony wega(36xs955) hd set. This hd set has a hdmi input, so I thought I should upgrade my dvd player. I scored a denon 755s player with dvi output. I got a monster dvi-hdmi cable. Long story short, I'm getting alot
of digital noise and a little pixilation through this feed. I've read that this digital feed is supposed to fix that problem. So I tried a component cable
and the picture is alot better. Go figure. Any helpful suggestions?

Thanks,
jg

Assuming your equipment is calibrated correctly I would try some other dvd's before giving up. What discs did you use? How is the set calibrated? Are all the settings on both the dvd player and the tv correct?

Try another cable, too. Never know with computer cables.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll try a different cable. Oh yeah, I'm getting the same results with other dvds. The component cable looks really good, but it would be a waste not to take advantage of the hdmi input.

Thanks,
jg

Just so you know you're not really gaining anything from using an HDMI DVD player on your TV unless its an upscaling player that needs that type of connection which yours is. You might not even notice the difference on a screen that size though.
