Just went to my local Wal-Mart and they didn't have any titles in addition to the ones already listed. I'm hoping someone will have Angel on sale again, since on the original Amazon sale I wasn't anticipating liking the Buffy series so much.

Thanks to the OP. Checked my local Wally World, and as usual they sucked. Only $14.44 titles were the Cedric the Entertainer set and the Bernie Mac show. Checking the one on my way in to work tomorrow morning.

I just got back from Wally-World...unfortunately, Arrested Development and Family Guy were not part of this sale (I didn't see any copies of Angel or The Shield.) The only sale title they had that hasn't been mentioned in earlier posts was Ally McBeal: Ally on Sex and the Single Life, which is more a sampler (six episodes) than a season set.

I went to mine tonight...nothing that hasn't already been mentioned by others. I did notice that on the display bin there was a picture of Malcolm In the Middle, so that one might be $14.44 as well, but they didnt have any there.

Anyone checked at any other Bay Area stores?

L.A. has the display, but you've got to search for it. Finally picked up MTM. Thanks to the OP for a terrific deal!

Oh by the way, HARSH REALM and NYPD BLUE are part of this sale.

Yes, but it was very short lived (9 eps I believe), so there is no conclusion...

I picked up Harsh Realm as a blind buy. I watched the first disc and thought it was very entertaining which would explain why Fox canceled it. Plus it is in widescreen despite the back of the box saying fullscreen.

Checked Wally on my way home tonight and found nothing in Springfield, IL. The clerk knew nothing of this deal, but did say that they had some $4.50 DVDs in the back. However, they couldn't sell them until the merchandiser person showed up and put them out. He commented that there were some pretty good titles in there. I'll just keep checking!

As I recall there were some legal problems, it was based on a comic book but the creators did not get credited and that hurt chances of continuing the series but I believe all has been worked out now.

For those of you who have found this . . . Is it a studio displayer or a dump bin? Where in the store are you finding it, in the DVD section or in a main aisle somewhere?

The trick with Walmart is just grab your selection and have the counter scan it for you to see if the price-drop is there. My Wal-Marts "Greatest Hits" games bin says $19.97 and they ring up $14.48 or something to that extent.

Sadly, I was JUST there and didn't see a display but I'll go back later tonight after my nap to see if this is true because if it is I'll pick up a few sets. *evil grin*

Picked up Dark Angel a couple of hours ago.

The display with all of these cheap titles wasn't in the electronics section, but by one of the front entrances where they put new release DVDs. One half of the display was the special sale items, the other half was "Sideways." So if you don't see it in with the rest of the DVDs, check around your store.

Well...I got the blank stares too. He also tried to tell me I was misunderstood about the $14.44 as NO tv sets would be under 25-30 bucks.

I showed him over to where the Jeffersons and Good Times (just to prove a point) were in the 13.72 dvds display

He then told me that things like NYPD Blue and King Of The Hill etc WOULD NOT be $14.44.

He did show me to their sparse selection of 4.88 (Another 48 Hours, Love Story, BHC2, and something else I forgot).

really underwhelmed by the experience.

did get some Dawn detergent though!

Of all the things I hate about Wal-Mart the biggest one is they all have different prices and sales. Just because one store is doing the $14.44 sale doesn't mean they all will. They also charge different prices for the regular DVDs depending on the nearest competition.

I may go ahead and try to get in on this deal later today I just hope the nearby one is participating. I got several sets from Amazon, but there might be a couple more I'm looking for.

I picked up Harsh Realm, NYPD Season 1 and Dark Angel. They were in the Electronics section on the endcap near the computer software where they sometimes feature special DVD packs. It had a cardboard "title card" at the top featuring some pictures from some of the shows and said something to the effect of, "Lowest Prices on Great Television." Then in black marker it was written $14.44.

04-10-05, 09:15 AM
They had this in the Amherst NH Walmart.

It's on an endcap at the front of the DVD section (towards Sporting Goods).

No Malcom or Futurama. I did see MTM, Harsh Realm, NYPD Blues, KotH, Dark Angel and Buffy in varying degrees of availability.

Right at front entrance wayThanks. I went ahead and swung by there this morning and got Harsh Realm, Silverado and Where Eagles Dare for $29 plus tax.:) I figured it must have been Derby or Shelton and I have always found Shelton to be a little cheaper. I wonder why Shelton is only charging $12 instead of $14.44, but I'm not complaining.

I picked up Harsh Realm. Seems like kind of a strange choice to have on sale. Generally they put the Season 1's on sale so you get hooked on the show and then come back and buy the rest, but obviously that's not the case here. I guess they're just desperate to get anyone to watch this show. ;) Oh well, I'm kind of a sucker for these critically acclaimed, yet ratings impaired series that get canned early on. It feels like I'm in on some secret that most people don't know about. Plus, it's got VR, and well let's just say that I still have fond memories of VR5, so that should tell you something.

I've been to 3 Walmarts and none of them had this #$%& display. Then, today I notice a "rollback" section on the Movies main page of walmart.com. The 14.44 sets are on there. I figure the $2 shipping is OK considering I'd spend that on gas driving to another store. (gas is $2.60+/gal where I live!)

Finally found some at the SuperWally here. The lady in electronics didn't know anything about them. However as I was leaving I noticed them just stuffed onto a display rack up by the registers (which said $14.96 but they rang up at the aforementioned $14.44).

Picked up Harsh Realm and King of the Hill.

Passed up NYPD Blue, Mary Tyler Moore, Buffy, and Ally McBeal.

Wanted but didn't find Malcolm in the Middle and Futurama (and maybe Dark Angel).

No sign of Cedric or Bernie Mac. Anybody finding any other titles?

My wal-mart had these but I didn't get any. I already had the ones I wanted. Although I was slightly curious about Harsh Realm. Anything with Terry O'Quinn is worth checking out.

I am surprised Party Of Five hasn't been involved in one of these first season sales. Fox might as well clear out their stock of those since they obviously aren't interested in getting Season Two released.

OK, second Walmart here had: Buffy, Mary Tyler Moore, NYPD Blue, King of the Hill, Harsh Realm, Dark Angel (the first didn't have this one), and Ally McBeal. The merchandising guy was there and I asked about the the titles pictured (but not found). He just shrugged and said that sometimes the displayers were packed differently . . . plausible, but I don't know that I buy it.

Has anybody actually found Futurama, Malcolm in the Middle, or Bernie Mac? The displayer prominently displays pictures of these as well as a few (but not all) of the confirmed titles. False advertising?

However, I didn't find any other sets mentioned, nor a special display anywhere in the store. I'll be checking again later this week.

Picked up NYPD Blue and Harsh Realm at Huntsville Wal-Mart on Drake. Kind of odd as it is generally regarded as the smallest and worst maintained in this area, but right at the entrance they had a display. Thanks for the heads up that they were online, pilot. I try to avoid Wal-Mart whenever possible.

I finally picked up NYPD Blue: Season 1 for a good price. I had been debating it for a long time when the other sales were on, and my girlfriend kept saying, "You have too much DVD on TV as it is, so don't buy it!" I kicked myself once the sales were over. But now I have it...and she'll have to deal with it on the shelf--watched or not! :D

There's a reason we don't talk about sports in the DVD Bargain forum -- you're bound to anger someone. Let me say that I watched the game live and Sheffield is an overpaid cry baby who lost his temper. HE swings at the guy and absolutely scared a lady who was doing NOTHING. He knocks beer all over himself from swinging at a couple of people who didn't even touch him. I saw the play from EVERY conceivable angle and Sheff was just being your typical A-Hole NYY -- cry baby drama queen.

you talk about not talking about sports in this forum and then that's exactly what you do? :hscratch:

...And I stand by my original statement. Sports should not be discussed in the deal forum because it cannot go well. Once the door gets opened it's fair game until we are asked to stop (which has happened so I won't make this post about sports but simply to respond to Dabaomb's headscratching). The fact remains I'm a Red Sox fan and MUST stand up to defend my Sox. If he hadn't gone out of his way to mention the Sheffield incident I wouldn't have said boo -- but he did and I had to (Red Sox Nation oath). He opened the door and mentioned my Sox so I couldn't let it go unanswered. It's like someone insulting your mother -- you know that's bad to do but when someone does it to you your natural reaction is to do it right back. That said I am done and WILL NEVER START a sports conversation in the deal forum or any other forum that has nothing to do with sports, BUT I WILL RESPOND to any statement that looks down on my Sox -- it's only fair.

I finally found a Wal-Mart near me that had this display! I was about to call off searching.

Picked up

Harsh Realm
Mary Tyler Moore
King Of The Hill
NYPD Blue

wanted Malcolm. I should have went to the electronics and looked for it in the regular tv set section and argue my way to get it for 14.44, but I did not have time.

I gotta say I'm shocked that so many TV sets are so cheap lately. Is it that there are SOOO many coming out that the stores can only keep the most recent around? That would be my best guess.

I went to Best Buy today and found The Dead Zone for 17.99. I figured it was a mistake but I picked it up. I normally buy all my favorite shows as they are released but after the great deals on older releases lately I might start waiting to pick certain shows up.

It's mostly first seasons on sale this cheap.

I think it's a very smart marketing move - get people hooked so they shell out full price for the rest of the series.

I looked last week at the walmart closest to my house, they had no displayer, so tonight I checked in electronics, they had them in the regular movie section, I picked up Dark Angel and NYPD Blue. I debated on Harsh Realm, but I never seen or heard anything about it so I passed.

The Walmart near me (Delta Oaks, Eugene OR) had them all together on one side of a 4-sided display in the isle in front of photo electronics. Picked up Harsh Realm and Mary Tyler Moore. Thanks everyone. They also had NYPD Blue and King of the Hill.

Picked up Harsh Realm at the Conchester Highway location in Aston? PA (not sure what town). They had a whole display of this and many others for the price of $14.44 They had the display facing the back of the store in the media department. Otherwise, I'm sure there wouldn't have been much of anything left.

I went to another Wal-Mart to grab NYPD Blue since I was a fool not to grab it the first time. The guy knew nothing about the display/deal and walked around with me for a few minutes looking. Sure enough we found the display and he swore it wasn't there the night before. This was Tuesday so there's hope if your store didn't have it before.

No. It just came out.

Although I do wish it were $14.44, so more people would buy it and I would know they were definitely putting more seasons out. (Also that means I would have gotten it for 14.44 - but I love the show and 21.88 wasn't bad for this funny show).

I've seen the threads here about Wal-Mart taking their turn selling Season 1 sets for $14.99. It turns out they also have the Mary Tyler Moore and the Buffy "Starter Set" in the $5.50 bin. The "Starter Set" has a coupon for $10 off Season 1. Sales receipt must be dated between 3/22/05 and 12/31/05. Offer expires on 12/31/05.

It looks like people are getting 4-5 dollars on ebay for the "Starter Set"

Math:
14.99 for Season 1
5.50 for Starter Set
equals 20.49
minus 10 coupon
equals 10.49
minus 4 for Starter Set on ebay
equals 6.49 for The Mary Tyler Moore or Buffy Season 1 Complete set!!! Or $10.49 if you don't want to deal with ebay. Still not to bad.

My first bargain listed here. Hope you guys like it.
