Almost Famous clarification.

Have there been three releases of this film?
1. Original release
2. re-release (Untitled)
3...I think my dvd is disc two of the Bootleg Cut, did they discontinue 1 ?

I'm not sure though...

Hmm. Not really clear on what you're saying here about the third item. Almost Famous "Untitled" is the "Bootleg Cut". It is two discs plus a CD with Stillwater songs. There was a single disc release before it came out. Those are the only two Region 1 releases of it that I am aware of. The Untitled Bootleg Cut is a hell of a release for a film that really deserved one.

Sounds like you've got a bootleg of the bootleg.

Current One disc

the original cover art for the one disc

Hope that helps - I think the art changed, but not the DVD on the 1 disc - I could be wrong

I got it at best buy, so I doubt it's a bootleg.
It was in a two-pack with american beauty.

Was there a slipcover-ish part for the bootleg. I was looking at mine and it is just a fold up sort of thing, seems odd.

It's just a slipcover on top of the regular one.

Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator, and A Beautiful Mind also have these.

okay I'm going to finish this and take my time, and then practice my English more.

Okay. Untitled or, "The Bootleg Cut", the three disc edition came out I believe after the original release. My question is once that came out, did they replace the original with disc 1 from the bootleg cut edition? Because there is an extra on it, Cameron Crowe giving his introduction to the bootleg DVD.

Thank you.

I do not remember that being on the one disc when I owned it. Sometimes I skim supplements quickly and I could have missed it, but that sounds new to me.

Does anyone know when the Bootleg Cut went out of print? I must have missed this announcement.

Wow, didn't know this went OOP. I lost this DVD in my last move. After a couple of years of looking, I gave up and bought another copy from ebay for $10 + $4 S&H about two months ago. It was actually missing the CD, but I can live with that. I'm just really glad I got it again as it's one of my favorite films of recent years.

To the OP's question : Did we ever figure out if the Theatrical cut was replaced with the bootleg one?
