News/reviews of the R3 limited edition SEVEN SAMURAI?

It looks like it has the same commentary as the Criterion, with additional extras. The pic looks like it may have a chunky book with it too -- although that's likely not in English.

My questions:

1. How's the picture quality? Better than the Criterion?

2. Does it have English subtitles? (I assume it will, since it has an English commentary.) How good is the translation?

Interesting that it contains a "Michael Jeck commentary"... and presumably the same one. Though there hasn't been a formal announcement, a new Criterion edition also seems imminent (we know that Criterion has commissioned new subtitles, for example).

I'm thinking this might be worth a shot. Its been digitally remastered, so this hopefully might be the new Toho remaster with subs added. OTOH, the current Criterion's pq takes nothing away from the film and has been wholely adequate for my needs, having initially become used to watching Kurosawas on TV and on VHS.
