Argh..Need some help with 680's

Hey, I have the Logitech Z-680's (which I couldn't be happier with) and a Pioneer DV-260 DVD player. Thing is, I bought an optical cable so I could get surround sound from my dvd player through the 680's, but I only hear people talking from the center speaker. The other ones are all backround sounds, and the music. When I hit the "audio" button on my dvd player remote, it says that the movie is playing in 2.1 surround, which I know it shouldn't be. What should I do? Thanks!

First, check the "digital out" configuration under the audio section of the settings menu on your DV-260 DVD player. You'll see choices like PCM, 48, 96, auto, off (I don't know exactly, since I don't own this player). Try different settings to see if the Z-680 picks it up and autodetects the correct signal. I own a set of Z-680s and they do autodetect signal types on the digital inputs. You can manually change the setting by pressing the "effect" button on the Z-680 remote, but if a DD or DTS signal is not being sent, you will not get them as a choice.

Thanks mike, I'll give that a shot. The dvd player plays audio CD's in perfect 5.1, and the special features on the dvd are also 5.1. But when I start to play the movie itself, it switches to Effectigital and sounds crappy.
