Deadwood "Requiem for a Gleet" 3/27/05

Cochran contemplates a procedure that could cure Swearengen - or kill him. His employer indisposed, Dority must attend to a former fellow-bushwacker come to request Swearengen's permission to pull a job, and to Wu, who attempts to convey news of a "tong" rival newly arrived from San Francisco. Bullock attempts to settle into domesticity, while Star gets a new combination bookkeeper/roommate - Trixie. Alma cuts ties with Sofia's tutor, Miss Isringhausen, who takes refuge with Adams. The arrival of County Commissioner Hugo Jarry spawns rumors about the camp's future and legal ownership of the gold claims.

Cable was out and I missed Arrested Development but it popped back on at five to 9. Phew.

I guess I missed it last week but why exactly did Alma fire the tutor lady?

Also those scenes with Al were absolutely cringe inducing! I was squirming in my chair!

Miss Isringhausen made a few judgemental comments about Alma and Seth that Alma didn't appreciate.

Did I miss Adams' and Miss Isring's prior involvement? I was caught off guard to see her so forward with him.

And are Kerry and Wolcott related somehow? Seemed to be the case to me.

I still have no clue what that Woolcott guy is about. Everything he says goes right over my head.

No surprise that Dan took out that one-eared guy. The guy was practically begging for it.

Best final shot I've seen in a long time.

So how many characters is that guy playing Willcott playing now? Why the fuck do the creators thing this is a good idea in any way, shape or form? This isn't Dr. Strangelove.

And you know what I never, ever need to see in any TV show ever again? A plot about kidney stones.

Mr. Wu was fucking hilarious though. I love that crazy celestial.

I thought it was one of the more boring episodes. Once again, no Jane.

Next week's looks really good though.

Agreed. I do not like domesticized Seth as compared to gun-slinging justice-seeking Seth, but I'm hoping this week's episode was mainly to set up the return of the former Seth.

What did the lop eared guy keep asking Dan about Al?
Something like "Is he still in gayland"

After Al passed some stones (agree a cringe inducing scene) that final shot when they showed all of them from above draped around Al and exhausted from holding him down was just fantastic.

There are indeed some characters dialog and story lines where I seem to have lost my way and have virtually no idea what in the hell they are talking about at times.

This happens to me every now and then too. HBO.com provides a great episode summary each week which usually clears things up for me when needed.

This week's summary

Also, Seth and Martha's conversation about conversing sure was bizarre.

Yeah, WTF, but not Wilcott; the other guy - Adams. What was with her telling him that she feared Mrs Garrett was going to kill her?

The whole Seth/Martha deal is confusing as well.

Best part was Mrs Garrett jerking Farnum's chain around.

That was like an expertly choreographed ballet. At least Al should be on his feet, tenderly, for next week.

yeah, David Milch kind of goes overboard sometimes with the labyrinthine interlocution - that is to say, that the ultimate destination to which his characters aspire in their lengthy diatribes and wordy interactions would be far faster reached if they would speak some motherf***ing english!

As best as I can see, she's mad about getting fired, so she's planning to spread bad rumours about Mrs. Garrett, either to have her run out of town, or killed, or for some other end.

Man - people were touchy back then. How much did she get - 6 months severance + bonus?

My wife thinks Mrs Garrett is going to end up finding out she is pregnant (Her judging the previews for upcoming Deadwood episodes, where Mrs Garrett was throwing up or something)
If that DID happen, it would throw a wrench in alot of the events currently happening in the town

It was also funny when Dan kept telling the Doc that Al "wanted the upper".

He wouldn't want the "lower" where Doc would have to cut through his 'taint'.

I've been more and more impressed by the Dan character, the humor that he sometimes brings to the show as well as the poignancy of his devotion to Al - So far this season, that is what has stood out the most for me.

I have a feeling that maybe Miss Isringhousen,is actually working for Alma's father or Brom's parents. It was funny she mentioned it wouldn't be the first person she killed. It seems that someone has told her that Alma had something to do with Broms death.
I could be way off base though.

Ellsworth cluing Alma in on exactly what Wolcott/Hearst are up to was a great moment also .

I can't get enough of this show ..Great stuff

The exact thing went through my mind when watching it last night too.

Also did anything important happen before Izzy was officially let go? I got home a little late and didnt start recording in time.
