I read Daniel W. Kelly's DVD review of The Pirate Movie at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=14986 and...I agree with everything he said about this cute lil flik that "came out" (couldnt resist) when I was in High School. I have only one problem....I AINT GAY. Nope not in the least..although Johnny Depp IS pretty hot. Anyway, this is a film to recommend to ANYONE of ANY sexual persuasion who has the least amount of camp sensiblity and likes cheese! I also believe studies should be done on me because I think that I prove that you're either born gay or not. I LOVE Xanadu! I love-d Madonna, Disco, I should be gay! My walls are painted purple (big Prince fan...speaking of antoher stright guy whos not afraid of his feminine side)...but im not. Very not...Just didnt want to deter any straight teens or adults from checking this silly silly lil ol film out! Lol!!

I LOVE The Pirate Movie!! And I'm so glad that it finally made it to dvd. I really thought that the day would never come. I remember seeing it on tv at least a couple of times when I was very young in the early 80s, and I never saw it again, either on vhs or television. I was completely in love with that movie and spent many years hoping that it would show up again, but it was the most illusive movie ever! Most people hadn't even heard of it, much less actually seen it. Luckily back in '98 I searched no more. I ordered a vhs copy from Critic's Choice Video for a whopping $60!! I guess it was so expensive because it was so rare. What's funny is that it was listed with their "Worst Movies of All Time" pages of their catalog. Sorry, but I hardly think that's true.

I think this movie can appeal to a lot of people indeed. Just because I'm gay doesn't make me think that somebody who wasn't or didn't like "gay-friendly" things wouldn't enjoy it. It has a lot of Monty Python and slapstick qualities to it that a lot of people would enjoy. It's really a lot of different types of movies all rolled into one.

Thanks Daniel for giving us such a nice positive review of the movie! That was really refreshing. I've ordered it from deepdiscountdvd so it should be arriving soon.
