Critic's TV picks for Wednesday
By Gail Pennington

At work in a fast-food restaurant called Yippee Hot Dogs,
Silly? Yes, in a droll way. Stupid? Well, sure. But the new Fox sitcom
"Life on a Stick" (8:30 p.m. on Channel 2) is a little like junk
food - so bad, and yet ... kinda good.
From Victor Fresco, who created "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," "Life"
has a bit of that cult hit's whimsy and even a smidgen of its wit. But this
more mainstream venture (think "That '70s Show") also has plenty of broad (and
did I mention stupid?) humor for the targeted audience of younger viewers.

(yes, I'm mad because, since I ReplayTV everything I watch, I didn't get LoaS, just a crappy AI rerun)

I only laughed once during this episode and that was when the father told his son that he was going to punish him by sticking his head into the toilet until he passed out.
Other than that, this show deserves a big thumbs down.

Oh my god this show was horrible. The laugh track had me about ready to smash my tv, so I turned it off after about 10 minutes. Too bad, too, because the deep frying of all the stuff in the manager's office made me laugh during the preview. But the timing and delivery of all of the characters was SO very bad - and forced - that even the deep frying joke fell flat (I happened to flip back right when that part came on). Jesus, bring back Wonderfalls, Greg the Bunny, Point Pleasant, Tru Calling, Harsh Realm, Firefly...practically ANY show would be better than this, but those shows ranged from decent (point pleasant) to fantastic (GtB,WF,Firefly).

Is there any case of a successful sitcom based on such a "wacky" premise? That aren't kids shows? Even that show "Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Parlor" learned to change it's name in the second season to even have a chance to be taken seriously.
