Pearl Jam are almost finished with their follow-up to 2002's Riot Act. The band plans to spend the next three weeks in the studio recording vocals and mixing. If all goes according to plan, the yet-to-be-titled disc could be released as early as May.
"There's a lot more up-tempo stuff," says drummer Matt Cameron. "It's a lot more rockin' than our last one." Song titles like "Severed Hand," "Worldwide Suicide" and "2x4" seem to reflect that harder edge. Though the track listing has not been finalized, other candidates include "Marker" and "Cold Concession."
Cameron, who teamed with guitarist Mike McCready on the track "Unemployable," characterizes the sessions as more collaborative. "We reworked everything together in the studio," he says. "It's a really healthy environment -- everyone really just wants to dig in and make the songs as good as they can be."
Pearl Jam hope to support the new record with a summer tour.

Pearl Jam Halfway Home On New Album
Pearl Jam is progressing on its eighth studio album in Seattle. Guitarist Mike McCready tells Billboard.com the band has "about 20-25" songs in the hopper, comprising "some ballads and some pretty harder stuff, and some Who-ish type-stuff."
In addition, McCready says Pearl Jam is approaching the project from a new angle. "How we're recording it is a first," he says. "We've been recording for awhile, and then we'll sit down and listen to the songs and then take a couple of weeks off, come back and re-record them and add stuff. We generally just go in, do some demos and record."
McCready is hoping the as-yet-untitled album will be out before the end of the year, with a tour to follow. The set will be Pearl Jam's first for J Records/BMG, following the dissolution of its career-long relationship with Epic.
However, the guitarist says Pearl Jam is "not anywhere close to being done. We're about halfway there. It's going to be a really awesome record, and I'm not just saying that like every band member says it. It's been really exciting."
The opportunity to revisit and potentially add to songs has been a welcome one, the guitarist says. "I've woken up a few times and had a riff going in my head that I really liked, say, of [bassist] Jeff [Ament]'s or something," he offers. "It's like, OK, cool. That one is sticking in my head. I want to keep doing that. Let's do that. Whereas before, you'd just do it and it'd be done."
Last month during a benefit at Seattle's Paramount Theatre, the band unveiled a fast, punky song co-written by McCready with guitarist Stone Gossard, tentatively titled "Crapshoot Rapture."
"I'm certainly by no means a punk rocker at all," McCready says with a laugh. "But, the guys in my band are. Jeff and Stone and Ed have that in them, and those guys bring that out of me. We have this joke that my punk is more Dio-like."
As previously reported, McCready will lead the U.F.O. tribute band Flight To Mars at a benefit tomorrow (April 8) at Seattle's Showbox for the Northwest chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. Earlier in the day, he will serve as the featured speaker at a CCFA luncheon at Seattle's Westin.

Well not at this point... Well getting good seats I mean. There are so many members now, and also at least last time you could buy tickets to as many shows as you wanted, you'll likely not get that good of seats, at least what I would consider good. However, you should be able to get them..
My buddy use to get second row center all the time and now has trouble getting top 5 rows, myself get just ok seats, been a member since late 90s though, he was much earlier..

well I went ahead and renewed/got a membership just in case.
I think it'll be a "new" membership because it's been so long since I've had the membership. Never should have let it lapse, I think it was an old email and address.
But for the last two tours I actually had GREAT luck getting GREAT seats without the tenclub. I actually was in the first 5 rows for the Boston shows.

You can prob just email tenclub and explain the situation, I know the past they have let people renew their memberships and keep their ids. Not sure if there is a limit on the amount of time that can pass or not. Might be worth a shot.
Really about tix? Was it a show added after the initial tour was accounced?I'm sure that was the case, you caught one of the other boston shows added after the fact.. they added 2 I believe last tour, and tenclub members really only had a chance at the intial tour run, since all orders for tix had to be in, in advance. That would explain it, if that's not the case, that is odd, since all the good seats are normally held. Either way nice.

It's been both scenarios (added shows and original shows).
It is much easier to get the "last minutes" release tickets (usually 6 - 48 hours before the show) to the "added" shows.
But I've seen it happen for original shows too.
Boston's Tweeter Center is known for holding a number of good/great seats out for VIP/Corporate.
Also had luck with the MSG show as well.
I'll try emailing KAT but don't think I'll have much luck.

Pearl Jam Heading To Great White North
Pearl Jam will embark on a 15-date tour of Canada this fall, on which it will debut material intended for its as-yet-untitled new studio album. The trek, which was hinted at in a recent newsletter to members of the band's Ten Club fan association, will begin Sept. 2 in Vancouver and wrap Sept. 24 in St. John's, Newfoundland. Ten Club members can purchase tickets beginning today; tickets go on-sale to the general public at the end of May.
Earlier this month, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready revealed to Billboard.com that the band was about halfway finished with the new album, which he hopes will be released before the end of the year via J Records/BMG. He said Pearl Jam has "about 20-25" songs in the mix, comprising "some ballads and some pretty harder stuff, and some Who-ish type-stuff."
McCready said the band had been approaching the project from a new angle by revisiting songs after they were first put to tape, as opposed to Pearl Jam's usual approach, where, "we generally just go in, do some demos and record." "It is like taking them out live, although that's an exciting way to do it too," he said of the process.
The upcoming tour will mark several changes in the way Ten Club tickets are distributed to members. For the first time, seats will only be available online via PearlJam.com, and fans will not have to wait in long lines on the day of the show for an opportunity to obtain the closest tickets to the stage.
Pearl Jam last toured in the fall as part of the Vote for Change outing, and has only played one show since, a March benefit for Seattle's Northwest School at the city's Paramount Theatre.
Here are Pearl Jam's Canadian tour dates:
Sept. 2: Vancouver (GM Place)
Sept. 4: Calgary, Alb. (Pengrowth Saddledome)
Sept. 5: Edmonton (Rexall Place)
Sept. 7: Saskatoon, Sask. (Credit Union Centre)
Sept. 8: Winnipeg, Manitoba (MTS Centre)
Sept. 9: Thunder Bay, Ont. (Fort William Gardens)
Sept. 11: Kitchener, Ont. (Memorial Auditorium)
Sept. 12: London, Ont. (Labatt Centre)
Sept. 13: Hamilton, Ont. (Copps Coliseum)
Sept. 15: Montreal (Bell Centre)
Sept. 16: Ottawa, Ont. (Corel Centre)
Sept. 20: Toronto (Air Canada Centre)
Sept. 20: Quebec City (Colisee Pepsi)
Sept. 22: Halifax, Nova Scotia (Metro Centre)
Sept. 24: St. John's, Newfoundland (Mile One Stadium)

well that's why Pearl Jam makes you pick up the tickets at Will-Call, plus they won't tell you where the seats are ahead of time.
So the "scalper" would be limited to two tickets, would have to sell them as being undisclosed location, and then schedule to meet you at the venue to hand the tickets off. NOT WORTH IT.
Especially since the scalpers now days, no to make the most money it's by getting GREAT seats and selling them as EARLY as possible on places like Ebay. Because as the show gets closer there are tons of people dumping tickets, and tons of last minute release seats available.
I've been to TONS of sold out concerts where you can pick up tickets outside the venue the night of fore WELL BELOW FACE VALUE.
Not worth it to "risk" and sell outside for above face.

almost put in for montreal tix this morning, but i think i might pass.. tickets are fucking expensive - they better not be that much when they do their US tour.
i was also thinking to myself, do they really need this $$ 5 months in advance??
The base ticket price for the tour is $59.50 CDN ($52.06 USD) per ticket plus applicable fees. Ten Club tickets available in pairs only. No single ticket sales. There will be a $3.50 USD service charge per ticket plus a $1.53 USD bank card processing fee per ticket.

Pearl Jam Salutes Retailers With Surprise Set
Pearl Jam treated 120 independent music retailers visiting Seattle for the annual Coalition of Independent Music Stores convention to a private show Friday at the city's Easy Street Records store. The group ran through such oldies as "Even Flow," "Spin the Black Circle" and "Corduroy," the new song "Crapshoot" and covers of the Dead Kennedys' "Bleed for Me" and X's "The New World," the latter featuring X principal John Doe on vocals.
Several Pearl Jam members buy their music at Easy Street, and frontman Eddie Vedder had seen several in-store performances there in the past. "This just came from the heart," Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis tells Billboard.com. "The band said, 'We love this store, you have a bunch of people coming to town who love music, so let's do it.'"
"This was easily the best in-store performance our members have ever seen," says CIMS president Don Van Cleave. "We all walked away stunned."
Other acts that performed around Seattle as part of the convention included Kings Of Leon, Kinski and members of My Morning Jacket and Death Cab For Cutie.
Vedder also re-appeared at Easy Street on Sunday to perform during Doe's set. The pair sung "The New World" and X's "Poor Girl," previously recorded by Vedder with the Supersuckers for the 2000 benefit album "Free the West Memphis Three."
As previously reported, Pearl Jam is in the midst of recording its eighth studio album, material from which will be previewed on a September tour of Canada. Curtis says the band is hoping to release the set, which will be its first for J Records/BMG, before the end of the year.

Pearl Jam To Play
A Special Engagement At Borgata:
Two Shows Scheduled
For September 30 And October 1
Tickets Onsale Saturday, July 9, 10am
Atlantic City, June 29, 2005 – Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa and Electric Factory Concerts are proud to announce that Pearl Jam will perform two concerts at Borgata on September 30 and October 1, 2005. Tickets for both shows go on sale Saturday, July 9th at 10AM. Indie, punk female trio Sleater-Kinney will open.
Pearl Jam was one of the key groups responsible for popularizing alternative music in the early 90’s. Hailing from Seattle, the band released foot stomping anthems that made them rock legends overnight. Throughout their recording career, Pearl Jam have sold more than 60 million albums worldwide and established a large and loyal fan base. Pearl Jam fuses the riff-heavy stadium rock of the ‘70s with the grit and anger of ‘80s post-punk, without ever neglecting hooks and choruses.
Pearl Jam is Matt Cameron (Drums), Jeff Ament (Bass), Mike McCready (Guitar), Stone Gossard (Guitar), and Eddie Vedder (Vocals/Guitar). The band has shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and The Who and is well known for its energetic, dynamic and varied live performances. In 2000, the band began releasing “official bootlegs” of its live shows in an effort to increase the quality and decrease the price of bootleg CDs; they have sold millions of these official bootlegs to date. Over the past fifteen years, Pearl Jam has released five platinum selling albums and two gold selling studio albums. A much-anticipated new release is due out next year. Tickets for these shows are $50 and $95 and can be secured by calling Ticketmaster at 800.736.1420 or by logging on to ticketmaster.com.
Borgata is a joint venture of Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) and MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGG). Located at Renaissance Pointe in Atlantic City, it features 2,000 guest rooms and suites, 125,000 square feet of gaming, 145 gaming tables, 3,600 slot machines, 11 destination restaurants, 11 retail boutiques, a 50,000 square foot spa, 70,000 square feet of event space, and parking for 7,100 cars.

Pearl Jam Feeling 'Aggressive' On New Album
As it prepares for its maiden tour of South America, which begins Nov. 22 in Santiago, Chile, Pearl Jam continues to work on its new studio album, which is due next spring via J Records.
"It's been a difficult record and it's like sometimes the harder something is, then the more valuable it becomes," frontman Eddie Vedder said earlier this week during a Brazilian radio interview. "It's easily the best stuff we've done but also some of the hardest stuff. It's very aggressive, because again, it's kind of a product of what it's like to be an American these days. It's pretty aggressive, especially when you turn it loud."
The band has been working on and off throughout the year on the as-yet-untitled set, but Vedder admitted, "It's not quite done. I'm hoping to finish the last of the songs while I'm down [in South America]. I'm bringing my tape machines and all that down. If I can come back and finish the last few songs in January, then it will be out in April or something."
For now, Pearl Jam is not planning to unveil any new songs in a live setting. "We want them to be heard for the first time when the record comes out," Vedder said.
But he added he had been mulling an album title that was a play on Soundgarden's "Superunknown": "I was thinking of the word 'un-owned' -- not owned by anybody," he said. "The sky is un-owned. The moon is un-owned. We're un-owned. We want to remain un-owned. The title was 'Superun-owned.'"
Continuing a new initiative launched during Pearl Jam's recent fall North American tour, the South American shows will be available for paid download from the band's Web site within hours of their completion

The first taste of music from the new Pearl Jam album, the single "World Wide Suicide," was digitally delivered by J Records this morning (Feb. 24) to U.S. rock radio outlets in the form of a 15-second chorus snippet. The full track, which resembles the groove-driven 1998 single "Do the Evolution," isn't due to impact stations for another two weeks.
At deadline, no other details have been confirmed about the as-yet-untitled album, which will be Pearl Jam's studio debut for J. It's the follow-up to 2002's Epic swan song "Riot Act," which has sold 497,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Before the band gets busy with promotion and touring, guitarist Mike McCready will stage a March 18 benefit for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation at Seattle's Showbox. McCready will play with his UFO tribute band, Flight To Mars, on a bill that also features the Supersuckers and Lee Rude and the Trainwrecks.

Pearl Jam has had some pretty long breaks between albums before.
Eh, not really. They were releasing a new album every two years or so, up until Riot Act--not really that big of a gap between records in this day and age. By the time this one comes out, it will have been three-and-a-half years since Riot Act, which is a long time for them. It has been tempered somewhat, though, by Lost Dogs in '03 and the greatest hits album in '04.
Can't wait, also from the sounds possible tour info on the 7th!
