I'm curious if most people only get sick once (at most) during the winter. I am currently starting my third incapacitating period of illness; had bad head cold/flu from X-mas to New Years, stomach flu last month, and now the same head cold is starting up again. I usually only get sick when the seasons change, especially winter to spring, but this winter has been a rough one.

i don;t think i did this winter... maybe once, but not too bad if i can't even remember correctly

03-17-05, 09:19 PM
just a couple of head colds
03-17-05, 09:26 PM
Zero. just lucky I guess.
03-17-05, 09:30 PM
Not once thankfully.
03-17-05, 09:38 PM
Zero - and I didn't get the flu shot (mind control potion).
03-17-05, 09:39 PM
0 and ive never had the flu shot in my life.
03-17-05, 09:40 PM
i'm just getting over the one and only head cold i've had this winter,i work in a hospital and everything goes around...patients cough and touch nurses, nurses come out and cough and touch my desk...damn them all!!!!
03-17-05, 09:41 PM
I got sick last week (nasty head cold)--almost exactly a year after the last time (really nasty virus--I was so tired/sore I could barely walk the first day).
03-17-05, 09:42 PM
once, but it wasn't that bad
03-17-05, 09:43 PM
Every 6 months or so I get a cold/flu that knocks me on my ass. This has been happening for years. I had it in febuary. It wasn't as bad as it has been though. Still I was home from work 2 days and slept the whole time. Sinus infection included. But other than that I'm pretty healthy.
03-17-05, 09:49 PM
I'm usually sick once a winter...this winter i've gotten sick 3 times. nothing bad, mostly just a cold
03-17-05, 09:55 PM
Zero this winter, zero last winter. In fact, I can't remember when I last had a cold. And I miss having a cold, as it's my only chance to enjoy a sweet, sweet dose of NyQuil.
03-17-05, 10:21 PM
1 COLD--lasted about 4-5 days max with mild symptoms because of catching things early and taking
Never turned into a terrible cold--and within a few days I felt much better.
03-17-05, 10:27 PM
Only once, just a bad cold.
03-17-05, 11:50 PM
Not once. I blame going to the gym everyday and washing my hands constantly.
03-17-05, 11:55 PM
None. I always drink lots of Orange Juice and I eat lots of fruit. The last time I had the flu was 3 years ago when I decided to get a flu shot. I'll never get one again.
03-18-05, 12:15 AM
Once and the fever was terrible. It lasted for 8 days!
03-18-05, 12:24 AM
None that I can recall.
03-18-05, 12:39 AM
I usually get sick in the fall, rarely in the winter. So zero.
03-18-05, 01:01 AM
zero - I usualy get a bad cold about once every other year.
03-18-05, 02:21 AM
Once, just kinda tired for a couple of days with a sore throat, plus a cold.
03-18-05, 03:53 AM
Zero, which is pretty typical for me.
03-18-05, 06:05 AM
03-18-05, 07:01 AM
Zero this winter, zero last winter. In fact, I can't remember when I last had a cold.
03-18-05, 07:14 AM
Zero for me too.
I used to get colds and flu all the time when I used to use public transport, but since I stopped nearly 3 years ago and started driving everywhere, I haven't been sick once.
03-18-05, 07:26 AM
Normally once a winter - this winter four fucking times.
03-18-05, 09:33 AM
I don't get sick very often, but twice so far this year and I still have a cough that's hanging around.
03-18-05, 09:34 AM
I didn't get sick once this winter (not counting the Irish flu)
03-18-05, 09:36 AM
In the past, I got sick 2-3 times every winter. Usually the flu once and a cough/cold once or twice as well.
This season tells a different story however. I have not had any sickness whatsoever (not even a cold/cough) since Spring 2004, when I started taking powdered vitamin C twice daily
03-18-05, 09:37 AM
Zero up until today. I had a runny nose and headaches the last couple of days and I thought it was the change in the weather. Today I realize it's going to be a full out cold. Looks like my weekend is going to suck.
03-18-05, 10:40 AM

Ditto. It's been a rough winter. I started with a nasty sinus infection, moved onto a headcold a few weeks later, then just got over chest congestion. Everyone I work with has had it too. I usually only get sick once every fall, and I try to eat healthy, exercise, and wash my hands a lot. Why God, WHY?!
03-18-05, 10:43 AM
I was only sick once this winter, but it lasted from late November all the way through New Years. It was a rough 6 weeks, let me tell ya...
03-18-05, 10:45 AM
Once - for 2 weeks after the Super Bowl - had bronchitis. That sucked - sickest I had been in years.
I tend to get sick (slight fever and sore throat) twice a year - on seasonal changes: Fall -> Winter and Winter -> Spring.

Why God, WHY?!I don't know a single person in Columbus that hasn't had that sinus infection/chest cold thing at least once this winter.
03-18-05, 01:09 PM
<-- home sick right now. First time all winter.
03-18-05, 01:20 PM
Just once this winter, otherwise, I don't normally get sick at all.
03-18-05, 01:41 PM
zero, haven't had a cold since I left college back in mid-1999, 3 years ago while in Vegas for the Super Bowl (was drunk pretty much the whole trip and slept maybe 15 hours total over 4 nights that probably had something to do with it) I got the flu the day we left so I got home and had a 103 temp which was great fun on a 3 hour flight to dallas with 3 hour layover and 3 hour flight to Twin Cities (probably got some people sick that day :() stayed in bed for 5 days and haven't been sick since

03-18-05, 02:52 PM
I didn't get sick this winter. A big suprise, because in the past I usually get a cold in the winter and end up with a nasty chronic cough that last for a month or more.
03-18-05, 03:15 PM
I haven't been sick a single day in the past 6 years. (Of course, by "sick," I mean feeling crappy enough to not want to work/go to school. We've all had days when we're sneezing like crazy, though.)
