I'll play. In no particular order (and off of the top of my head):

Rakim
Chuck D
Eminem
Treach
Ice T
Ice Cube
Raekwon (Cuban Links alone...) & GZA (little cheating here)
LL Cool J
Notorius B.I.G
2Pac

All of yours are good too. Hard to narrow it down to just 10.

1. Rakim
2. Notorious Glorious B.I.G.
3. KRS-One
4. Tupac Shakur
5. Eminem
6. Q-Tip
7. Chuck D.
8. Jada Kiss
9. Method Man
10. Nasty Nas

Based strictly on lyrical Mic skills.
Jay-Z belongs there if you take into account crowd pleasing, style, and beats. He made some great songs but he stole 80% of his lyrics from the guys I've listed above.

Honorable Mention: Reverend Run, Big Daddy Kane, Redman, Gza, Slick Rick (who only really made 1 good album), Cowboy from the Furious 5, Eazy E...

So what's the list of better MCs? I know a lot of it is preference but just blurting something like that without anything else is inflamatory.

Don't listen to much hip hop. So I'm not going to pretend to know much about it.

Gift of Gab and Sage Francis are two really inspirational guys in my life. I just can't say enough good things about Sage. He's just that predominant artist that reflects and relates to so much in my life.

Gift of Gab
Sage Francis

'nuff said, bitches.

(by the way, that is real, they had 3 other releases as well in the late 80s/early 90s)
