Can anyone recommend any good books on managing teams in a business environment? Bonus points if anyone can recommend books on managing people that are older than you, at a young age :)

My dad had an old book many years ago called Management by Hassling, published by arrangement with McDonald's corp. It has 49 illustrated examples of poor management techniques with captions. I remember reading it as a kid and just thinking it was funny, but thinking back, a lot of the ideas make sense. I just checked half.com and ebay and there's several copies. Author is Jim Kuhn.

There are a few here I would recommend. Start with The Seven Habits... and then in any order, Principle-Centered Leadership or First Things First. Covey material is ALWAYS enlightening.
THanks Milo and JAA. I've read 7 habits and am listening to the 8th habit. I've also got some books from the library... some good ones are:
The Rookie Manager
Managing for the Dummies
Coaching and Mentoring for the Dummies
1001 to reward your employees

if I were you I would go with books written by Ken Blanchard. One of which Is 1001 to Reward Your Employees. I read a few of his books while I was going through a management class. The bookls are well written and have lots of innovative ideas.

First hint on managing older employees is not to have a copy of "Managing for Dummies" on your desk. Keep that one at home. :)

I read a book called "Why people don't do what you ask them to" or something to that effect. Not a roadmap, but it gave me a lot of insight into what is breaking down when things don't turn out as expected. Very general stuff, but it gives me a lot of questions to ask myself about specific situations.

LOL ALL of these books are at home with the exception of other leadership books and 1001 ways to reward your employees
