"The Pacifier"...the #1 movie in the land (Weekend 3/4-3/6) thread!

Looks like it has well exceeded expectations and really crappy reviews and almost trounced "Be Cool"!

1. The Pacifier BV $30,222,000 - 3,131 - $9,652 $30,222,000

2. Be Cool MGM $23,500,000 - 3,216 - $7,307 $23,500,000

3. Hitch Sony $12,500,000 -38.8% 3,438 -133 $3,635 $138,386,000

4. Diary of a Mad Black Woman Lions $12,000,000 -45.2% 1,703 +220 $7,046 $38,052,000

5. Million Dollar Baby WB $8,505,000 +15.8% 2,350 +225 $3,619 $76,970,000

6. Constantine WB $6,005,000 -50.2% 2,758 -248 $2,177 $60,531,000

7. Cursed Dim. $3,882,000 -59.7% 2,805 - $1,383 $15,296,000

8. Man of the House Sony $3,500,000 -60.8% 2,422 - $1,445 $13,976,000

9. The Jacket WIP $2,700,000 - 1,331 - $2,028 $2,700,000

10. Because of Winn-Dixie Fox $2,450,000 -64.1% 2,506 -682 $977 $27,028,000

11. The Aviator Mira. $2,343,000 -37.3% 1,331 -248 $1,760 $97,056,000

12. Sideways FoxS $2,200,000 -37.8% 1,057 -172 $2,081 $66,291,000

...i thought "The Jacket" would do a lot better, at least for the Knightly factor! (prob. the low theater count)

sorry...fixed!! and i obviously didn't see the other post or i wouldn't have posted this!

You know, I don't believe Million Dollar Baby dropped right out of the top 10. And where's Constantine? Both those were in the top 6 in Friday's #s. Where are those #s from?

As another poster pointed out, your list is missing MILLION DOLLAR BABY and CONSTANTINE. Here's a "corrected" list of the top ten films:

1 The Pacifier BV...................$30,222,000 - 3,131
2 Be Cool MGM......................$23,500,000 - 3,216
3 Hitch Sony.........................$12,500,000 -38.8% 3,438
4 Diary of a Mad Black Woman..$12,000,000 -45.2% 1,703
5 Million Dollar Baby................$8,505,000 +15.8% 2,350
6 Constantine........................$6,005,000 -50.2% 2,758
7 Cursed...............................$3,882,000 -59.7% 2,805
8 Man of the House.................$3,500,000 -60.8% 2,422
9 Because of Winn-Dixie...........$3,450,000 -49.4% 2,506
10 The Jacket........................$2,700,000 - 1,331

Wow, it's depressing that a Vin Diesel movie made that much money. Plus The Pacifier looked awful from the previews.

I think when Vin Diesel whose movie is rating at 20 % fresh bests John Travolta whose movie is only slightly higher at 29 by close to $8 million domestically, i would consider that a schlacking, it's Vin Diesel for god sakes!

sorry to say, but "The Pacifier" was a great family flick, the kids in my theater loved it, and so did many of the parents...it may not have been cinematic masterpiece, but it wasnt trying to be...it was just a fun family film.

I am not surprised that a family comedy beat a sequel from a ten year old film. I thought Be Cool just seemed a little too much like The Whole Ten Yards or Analyze That (a sequel no one really wanted).

Do I need to bring out the numbers? Good lord...

I think, while not a mainstay, Diesel has proven he has an audience. And family films are up there with PG-13 horror in audience popularity right now.

No "schlacking" occured.

Not totally surprising. Are We There Yet did quite well, and I would guess the Pacifier has a slightly broader appeal (it has a white cast instead of a black cast).

Talk about injustice. Be Cool is a great little movie. Lots of fun and should have TROUNCED some Disney/ Vin Diesel abominated drivel.

I find it interesting that the #1 movie in America has a title that also pretty much describes its function as a movie. Like it or not, crappy reviews don't mean much when you have a flick that can keep loud kids occupied for a couple of hours so Mom and Dad don't have to worry about entertaining them. In short, it's pacification!
