Cedric the entertainer host the TV Land award- WTF were you thinking TVLand??

just saw the promo for this years TV Land awards and the host is Cedric the entertainer?? TV Land WTF were you thinking?- This is such an insult to fans of classic TV I do not know where to begin. Just because he is in the remake of The Honeymooners movie- Thats makes him a good classic TV choice?? You could of picked Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart and so on. Instead you pick someone who is no where near classic. This is an insult to all the classic TV fans and actors and actresses!!- This is just a sign where TV Land is going. Really sad....

Is it really a big deal? Come on, he's a HOST. Who cares. I'm sure he loves classic television otherwise he wouldn't be there. So what's the big deal?

All of whom would have turned down the golden opportunity to host a never-heard-of low-profile awards show on a little-watched basic cable channel.

Cedric is the fucking emcee. It's not like they're giving him an award.

Yeah, have you watched the TV Land awards? I wouldn't host if they asked me.

Let the fact's speak- based on the 2002 cable handbook, rather than an assume:

TV Land: 70.04 million total subscribers (2,400 cable system affiliates)

I don't know who Roger is-

But besides that point is pick someone who is part of the TV land "CLASSIC TV GENERATION"- not someone who has not been part of classic tv- It is insulting to classic TV and it's viewers.

Total subscribers is not the same as ratings. C-SPAN2 has millions of subscribers too (meaning cable systems carry the channel), but only about eight people actually watch the channel.

The point being, the people you mentioned would never waste their time hosting such an obscure show. Have any "facts" to dispute that little nugget?

If you are going to play "grammar police" by correcting someone else, you had better not make a grammatical error in the same post.

Gimme a break. As bland, stupid, and boring as most awards shows are these days thank God some of them are taking a bit of a risk by going outside of the norm.

OH NOES!!!! Someone besides old has been actors is hosting an awards show!!!

Yeah, only problem is that the viewers don't give a fuck about them. Well most of the viewers. You know, those who aren't like you. They don't give a rats ass. By tossing in Cedric into the mix, the station hopefully appeals to someone who is young. You know, the type of person who is prime pickings from a top demographic. Having these old folks wouldn't be anything that would bring in the viewers.

I'm with brtcmfn on this. Cedric should be nowhere near any awards show, especially one that celebrates classic television. I understand the reasoning behind it though. He wants to publicize his raping of The Honeymooners. Maybe he'll bring in Jackie Gleason's rotten corpse and actually sodomize it on stage.

Follow the money:
A. Viacom owns Paramount, which is currently producing Honeymooners remake starring Cedric the Entertainer
B. Viacom owns TV Land, which is having an awards show targeted at classic tv fans, show hosted by Cedric the Entertainer . Hmmmmmmm, what a coincidence....

Anybody know if there were other parodies throughout the show? The Desperate Housewives bit was hilarious.
