Fever Pitch

As a huge Red Sox fan, I thought I'd get the discussion going on theFarrelly brothers' new movie opening April 8th.

Judging from the trailer, it seems pretty bland, but the early reviews at websites like Ain't it Cool News (however unreliable they may be) are practically raves. Anybody see an early screening? Any other opinions?

I'll be there opening night (a very close friend of mine has a supporting role as one of Fallon's "Fenway Family" members), but am wondering what other Sox fans (and moviegoers in general) are thinking. Will people outside of New England have any interest in seeing this?

It's loosely based on the Nick Hornby book of the same name, but about a guy who is an obsessive fan of Arsenal, an English soccer team who were also in the midst of a championship drought (the book is more of a Hornby autobiography). The UK movie version starred Colin Firth, and it was made in 1997. While I'm a big Red Sox fan, I'm not so sure about this one. Both Fallon and Barrymore have had poor records lately, though I'm hoping the Farrelly brothers can do something here.

That movie's pretty good. That's what I thought this thread was about. I'd heard about Jimmy Fallon being filmed at the World Series for a movie, I didn't know is was a remake of this.

This new one doesn't look too good. I like Fallon so I'm sure I'll check it out once it hits satellite.

The trailer made me laugh especially near the end.

Plus it looks 10 times better than Fallon's last movie "Taxi".

I wonder how they changed the ending with the Red Sox won the World Series. I thought in the original it ended in disappointment.

It was live on all the TV networks that night.
