Noticed that a title called X-Files Mythology #1 is scheduled for release from Fox on May 17th.
Anyone know what this is?

Link? From my admittedly scarce knowledge of the X-Files, I'm guessing it's similar to a "best-of" set, but instead contains only episodes relevant to the main mythology, without any standalone eps.
When the TV show was about to go off the air, I remember thinking that they could get another season or so of prime time by doing exactly this - run the "mythology" epsiodes only.
I wonder if there will actually be a market for this, since many of the most memorable episodes were stand-alones.

Personally I'd be more interested in a collection of the stand alone eps. I lost track of the main arc somewhere around the time the movie came out and just never bothered trying to pick it up again.

That's what I wanted :) I've been waiting for them to release just the conspiracy or the best of the x-files type package.
If they release them at the right price I buy it.

Even though I own all 9 Seasons, this might be worth it to have all the Mythology episodes in order on a couple of discs. If it's cheap enough ($15) I may pick it up.

Amen. The mythology is so convoluted and screwed up. They answer one question and create ten more. I'll bet Chris Carter doesn't even know what's really going on. Give me the "monster of the week" episodes any day.

Cool, mythos eps were best ones. It only time I seen characters grow or interact outside B movie manner. This is likely good idea to update people for future flicks as well.

I want the monster of the week episodes by themselves. that would be a nice package.

This does sound slightly more up my alley. I liked the X-Files, but just couldn't devote so much time to it. If the price is right, I might do this.

I have all the seasons myself, but I could see myself getting this. It'd be nice not to have to hunt through 60+ discs to watch the mythology in order.
Also, it would real nice if they included some commentaries on them. Throughout all 9 seasons I think the only mythology episode that has a commentary is "The Truth".

I also have all the seasons, but will buy this aswell if they include some new features. Lets hope Fox put some though into this
