Porgy and Bess (1959) - any word on this??
There was a post at IMDB that said "I heard that this is FINALLY coming out on DVD soon," but the poster hasn't replied as to where he heard the information. It is possible that the above is just internet rumor, but if it is coming out, I would love to get this on DVD.
Has anyone heard ANYTHING about this film?

In January, the Los Angeles Times ran an article about great operas on DVD. It recommended the Trevor Nunn staging of Porgy and Bess that came out a few years ago from EMI Classics. It's possible that the IMDB poster simply confused the issue and thought the article was referring to the 1959 movie coming out on DVD.
The most recent word on the movie is still that the Gershwin estate refuses to grant the rights to release it in any form. If that stance has changed, it would be much bigger news than a single item reported by some user on IMDB.
