Book on weird creatures/spirits

I saw a book recently that I thought looked interesting. It looked like a glossary or thin encyclopedia of strange looking creatures with old looking illustrations. They had things that looked like half chicken half frog, and half man half fish, strange looking things. Apparantly they had some sort of spiritual significance.

Does anyone know what this book is or what its about? I know what I typed is pretty vage but I'd appreciate any help.
