Anchor Bay British War Collection (The Dam Busters!)

I searched and didn't see this posted, although I presume it was announced some time ago.

Looks awesome! I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the Dam Busters, which looks like an excellent film. The others look good as well.

I wonder if they will be released individually. I'd like to get the dambusters, not sure about the others yet.

British War Collection (The Cruel Sea/The Ship That Died of Shame/Went the Day Well?/The Dam Busters/The Colditz Story)

looks good, seems expensive (MSRP 89.99) for 5 single disc releases though

Actually, it's not even 5 discs! On the amazon link it says 3 discs. At least that leaves room for some supplements if it's two movies per disc. But yes, that's quite a hefty price for 3 discs. And I suppose that answers Dazed's question: chances are they won't be released individually (I doubt these even come in keep cases, probably a fold out sort of thing).

Both The Dam Busters and Went the Day Well? are outstanding films.

I was going to do a blind buy on this and just sell off any titles that I didn't want to keep... hearing that they won't be in individual cases has me rethinking that decision. Too bad.

Interestingly enough, DVD Planet has all the titles listed individually.

Deep Discount also has the titles up for pre-order individually. They're selling them for $11.99 each.

I hope this is true as a year ago I bought The UK Region 2 British War Collection and that contains 3 of the Anchor Bay titles. It also includes the full length Ice Cold in Alex which is my favorite of all the titles.

amazon doesn't list them individually, but if those two sites do, it must be somewhat reliable.

Hmmmm... OK, now this is back on my radar.

If someone actually sees this live and can confirm that the DVDs are in individual keepcases within the slipcase, can you post and let us know? I'm going to hold off on ordering until there's confirmation.

I don't know of any reviews, but I just received my set today from Deep Discount. About the boxing: another box pulls out that contains all 5 in slim cases. Very nice set. Anyhow, two of mine were floaters! One of them even has a few scuff marks on the back from it. Does anyone know if this will affect performance? I won't be able to watch for a few days.

I've watched the set...all BW, all academy ratio, all good quality, at least I think so - my review is worth what I'm paid, after all.

I had ordered the Dambusters from DDD ($11.99) and received it today. It is in the slimcase (shrinkwrapped) as previously mentioned, so apparently DDD is breaking up a certain quantity of the British War Collection boxsets and selling the titles individually.

I really liked this set. Great, underrated and underappreciated films. It is kind of overpriced, though. MSRP is 90 for 5 films with absolutely no extras! Think of those warner boxes that go for less than 50 with the same amount of films, some even 2-disc sets. I really liked the boxing however, but it could be $30 dollars or so cheaper.
