I wanted to playback a Ravens/Dolphins game on one of my VHS tapes in my Sony dvd recorder/vcr combo while I was recording a program from TIVO on the dvd burner but I could only hear the sound for the Ravens game but there was no picture.

Both the VCR and dvd recorder are set to Line 1 and they are connected to a home theater receiver.


I tried searching for the answers in the troubelshooting guide but I could not find it.


What is the problem?

In general devices that pass through a signal can only do one thing at a time.

how do you fix this?

I have a Go dual deck vcr and I never had a problem playing back one tape on deck 1 and recording a show on deck 1.

I have a Sony RDRVX500 DVD recorder/VCR combo unit

I want to record on a dvd and watch a vhs tape at the same time but I can't since when I play the vhs tape I only get the sound but no picture.

I suggest you read the manual for the unit in question. I do not see how you could do what you want.
