I've still been debating on picking up Season 1. I think I may pick it up at some point. It seems Batman TAS Vol. 3 and Superfriends Vol. 2, is Superman TAS Vol. 2 coming out 5-24?

ThunderCATS: Season 1
Reported by: Anthony Lizarraga

I have no idea how WB defines the Superfriends seasons. Challenge of the Super Friends (vs. the Legion of Doom) was not the first season of Superfriends. I wonder which season this actually is. Either way, great that they are continuing with the releases.

Okay - after a little googling, it appears that (based on the few episode descriptions: one episode with Dracula and one where they are down to microscopic size) this season is the 1978 season of Superfriends. Here is the episode guide

So how many seasons are there that continue from the last season that was released? The seasons with the Legion of Doom were my favorite.

I hope one day they'll release the Super Powers seasons as well.

http://members.aol.com/SprFriends/chronology.htm

There were technically 9 seasons of Superfriends:

1. [THE SUPERFRIENDS 1973-1974] - the main 5 + Wendy, Marvin, and their dog.

2. [THE ALL-NEW SUPERFRIENDS HOUR 1975-1975] - main 5 + Wonder Twins/Gleek

3. [CHALLENGE OF THE SUPERFRIENDS 1978-1979] - JLA vs Legion of Doom

4. [THE SUPERFRIENDS 1978-1979] - this release - main 5 + Wonder Twins

5. [THE WORLD'S GREATEST SUPERFRIENDS 1979-1980] - main 5 + Wonder Twins

6. [THE SUPERFRIENDS HOUR SHORTS - 1980-1981 / 1981-1982]

7. [THE SUPERFRIENDS LOST EPISODES 1982-1983]

8. [SUPERFRIENDS: THE LEGENDARY SUPER POWERS SHOW 1984-1985] - Superman, Batman, Robin and Wonder Woman, along with the new Teen Titans Cyborg and Firestorm with various cameos from other JLA members.

9. [SUPER POWERS TEAM: GALACTIC GUARDIANS 1985-1986] - Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Firestorm, Flash, Hawkman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Samurai.

I just read through that web page -- great research, but (holy crap!) is that confusing. It'll be a freaking miracle if we end up getting all of those episodes on DVD.

I assume they started with the complete "Challenge" season, because that is, relatively speaking, the best. But getting a bit of Wonder Twins action now should help with the nostalgia factor. I wonder if they're going to go back and release the episodes with Wendy and Marvin?

Here's hoping!

Huh. I never knew it went Wonder Twins -> Challenge -> Wonder Twins. Interesting. I can just picture the Twins trying to take on Sinestro.

I'm honestly shocked and amazed that some of these cartoons are coming to DVD. Never would I have dreamed that I'd own the whole run of Thundercats, Fantastic Four, or any other cartoons I grew up with. It's fantastic that there's actually a market for this stuff!

I wasn't a big fan of the Fantastic Four cartoon (or most of the other Marvel cartoons except X-Men... Spider-Man was watchable). Part of the reason was the complete inability use the color black. Every episode seemed to take place at noon on a sunny day. Plus, the artwork took a real nosedive.

Compare:

It seems to me that your conclusion is backwards (although the quote makes not much sense), and a trailer for the Thundercats DVD will be on Batman and Superfriends.
