A while back, TV Guide changed it's listings to a grid-intensive style that left very few pages of easy to read prose. They touted the change as something the readers wanted, saying that it was eaiser to read. Well, this week they changed back to the old style listings with far fewer pages of grids. They also say that it is "what the readers want" and "easier to read". What marketing genius suggested they change in the first place? Having been a reader since the 60's, I'm glad they dumped most of the grids. Can you say "New Coke"?

Personally, I like the grid better. Makes it much easier to plan out a night of shows to watch. Can see everything on the channel instead of having to look in mulitiple times areas.

I hate the grid...it's still not perfect (I wish late night listings were back), but better than it's been for the past several months. The only reason they went to the grid was to cut down on pages and keep prices down...my recent renewal notice did say they were raising the price of an issue later this year - I think it's going up to $2.75 an issue. And I remember when it was 50 cents!

Wasn't it only like $1.25 about 8 years ago? Their costs seem to have went up alot.

TVGuide.com is good enough for me when I need to get some channel listings. It's not worth buying the paper version anymore.

It just seems funny to me that people still get TV Guide, but I guess having channel guides available on my Replays and digital cable box have spoiled me.

I still get TV Guide. It's usually quicker to look up shows in a book rather than on the television screen.

Thanks to the kind folks in Hot Deals, I get my subscriptions for free. And much like others do with *cough*Playboy*cough*, I read TV Guide just for the articles.

I just look up the listings on yahoo.com. I bought some issues of TV Guide back when they had some Star Wars covers I wanted to get and it was the first time I picked it up in years. The thing I didn't like was the listings didn't include all the channels avalable in my area, so it's pretty worthless to me.

Since having a TiVo, I never look at the listings anymore either. But, it's the same exact circumstances as Rogue588 above.

I like the Ads in TV Guide to bring attention to special shows. Internet listings and/or tivo listings don't do that. I don't have the new issue yet but anything has to be an improvement over the mess they've made with the pages and pages of grids. I only get the local stations and a few cable stations so it's been an eyesore.

The text in the new grid sections is now so small you need a magnifying glass to read them! I'm guessing a lot of older readers (with less than 20/20 vision) are going to complain.

When I received my first issue(free hot deals subscription) I was quite disappointed with the layout. I'm glad they are reverting back.

But, as someone else noted, with tivo, I rarely check for listings. I just read the articles.
