i was thinking about getting into criterions with this dvd am i making the right choice? I really dont care if i dont like this movie but is the dvd worth picking up? The only criterion i have seen is my life as a dog and i liked that one and this sort of seems like that am i right?
being as im 17 i mostly have mainstream dvds so i thought id get into buying dvds like this to spice up my collection with something different lol.

If you liked My Life as a Dog then it shouldn't be too difficult to move on to Fanny and Alexander. Be aware that it does focus quite a bit more on the adults than My Life does and move at a slower pace. Not trying to scare you off, just don't want you going in with false expectations.
I'd recommend picking it up. Also would recommend getting the special edition 5 disc set if you can afford it. This includes the original theatrical release and the televised version which is about 2 hours longer than the theatrical release.
Anyways, Fanny and Alexander is one of those dvd's that I would definitely want to have on a desert island. If you enjoy it only half as much as I do, you are in for a real treat. -smile-

This is easily my favorite DVD release of last year. The film is a masterpiece (and I'd never before seen the complete version), the transfer is immaculate, and the extra features are extraordinarily well-done. If you want to class-up your collection with an art film that just about anyone can enjoy, I can't think of a better choice.

talk about an immaculate video transfer, I watched this on my computer's LCD monitor and wow, the colors and sharpness were amazing and very 3D-ish.
