I'm in the same boat though. The tournament is a fun idea, but I still think the Simpsons, which is the most successful show in the history of the medium should be disbarred from being in a "cult" tournament.

There just seems to be some titles that will dominate simply because they are more well known (I.E. Simpsons) that may not really fit in the cult label. Still a pretty fun game. Glad to see some results. But what up with that when it comes to Veronica Mars?!

I like Veronica Mars, but the short-lived Keen Eddie was one of the best shows to hit the small-screen in the last decade.

DS9 losing in the first round, I'd call that an upset. Oh well, I still think it's the best of the Treks.

what's going to happen with this one? we having a tie breaker or sending them both on to the next round and having three options for that match?

I completely missed that one. Wow who knew there was so much Macgyver love in this forum. I agree it's probably the best Trek ever but what can you do.

If this one was that close, this contest is a fraud! And where is Get a Life? No Chris Peterson, no contest.

Everyone had a chance to nominate a show and have it be in the contest, including you. SO if there is no Get a Life you have a no one to blame but yourself.

His post here was one of his last ones (for now at least). What if he's gone for good? We'll never know who won!

Does the fact that it was nomintated and he let his girlfriend pick shows for the contest out of a hat alter your opinion any?

Well in that case there still were 128 shows. Even with that many there's no way to get them all in, and the only way to get the top 128 is another poll with more than 128 options.

And Get a Life is worthy of a top 20, let alone a top 128. Mostly I was kidding around until someone without the facts decided I needed chastising.

This post is not meant to be hostile, rather correct the idea that I didn't have the facts. It is true Get a Life had one nomination. It was not you. Had you nominated it, the show would have been kept off the chopping block and been in the contest. You'll note I never made the claim that it was not nominated, actually I made the claim that the reason it wasn't here was because you hadn't nominated it. That claim would not be true if it had zero nominations (then there would still be the chance it would not have made the tournament). So, before you "reverse-chastise" me be sure that I don't have the facts.

Staying true to the direction the thread is going in, if there is little or no chance that the OP will be coming back, could someone else take it over or would that be considered against some rule (that I might be without )

Our tournament starter has a history of starting rounds and disappearing for weeks, if not months on end. The exact same thing happened a year ago with the first tourney. When he didn't come back, I started up the next round of voting only to have him finally show up and tell me I did it wrong and we had to start over. If anybody wants to take up Round Two, do so with that in mind.

At the time I saw the handful of shows I was interested in already nominated by one poster or another and saw no reason to be redundant. Ultimately it was eliminated by luck of the draw. And I appreceiate your not meaning to be hostile, as my comments (though coming from real sentiment) are made with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

Going back to the original nominating thread the OP discusses the same thing happening last year, and swears it won't happen this year.

With that in mind, I think I've spent more than enough time on this subject.

The original tourney was based on brackets and I had the brackets all wrong. Unfortunately, turborobb was the only one who knew what the brackets were. I'm sure the same applies this time, making it impossible for anybody else to pick up the "dropped ball".
