Coconuts 20% off promo code for President's Day

Coconuts (sibling to FYE) is also having a President's Day promo, announced on their front page:

20% off --- code: PRESIDENT2005

Still have to pay for shipping though as can not combine with other coupons.

Just picked up Akira Kurosawa - 4 Samurai Classics DVD box set ($58.39) and Raging Bull CE ($17.59). It sucks they charge tax and shipping though. Still though, cheaper than DDD. There are deals to be had on the box sets at Coconuts online store.....especially Deadwood. I couldn't justify spending that much though on something I'm not sure I'd like or not...

No kidding.

I checked my wants versus what I could easily get them for at other online sites. Not only do they price between 30 and 50% higher than other sites, the one time I did use coconuts.com in the past they were easily the WORST online retailer I have ever dealt with, DVD or otherwise. I always recommend to anyone who will listen to be very wary of that merchant. I will never do business with them again.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to get the rebates, you'd either have to:

1) Make a nice photocopy on thick paper
2) Cut the box/UPC
3) Get a price sticker from your nearest FYE store

Right?

Although FYE and Coconuts are sister companies, will a FYE price sticker work on a coconuts rebate? You know the rebate fulfillment people can sometimes be a pain in the neck.

I've done both the FYE and coconuts.com rebates before. With coconuts.com, a good photocopy of the back of the DVD box w/ the UPC code, the original shipping invoice, and a copy of the online sales receipt seems to be sufficient to get the rebate. Did it a few times already with no problems. It's nice that FYE and Coconuts don't require you to mutilate your box to get the rebates.

here's an unforseen circumstance. i received my South Park S5 set today, but there's no coconuts/fye yellow&white sticker on the front that i usually use to send in for the rebate. how should i proceed if i don't want to cut up the box, but want to get the rebate?

np...there's definitely a lot of (good) info in the thread. The only thing that sucks a little bit about the rebates is the wait. 2 months is par for the course, but I've had some come after 3. Keep copies of everything too just in case.
