Back to the Future Box Set - $16.86 at Sam's

Sam's has this 3-movie DVD set for only $16.86. They appear to have the "new" discs (with the framing problems corrected) and seem to be moving fast.

I was just at the Sam's Club in South Portland, ME tonight and this wasn't anywhere to be found, just in case anyone else is looking for this. If you do find it for that price though, damn, good find.

Wow! I wonder if Costco will be able to compete with this price....

Thanks for the heads up!

Be care with Costco. I picked up the boxset a few weeks ago only to discover that it was fullscreen. There is nothing on the packaging to indicate the aspect ratio until you actually open the outer 2 layers of packaging to get to the case itself.
When I returned it, the girl said that there have been quite a few returns by people because it was fullscreen. (I guess that it's good that there is a growing number of people who care about AR)

I saw that set last week too and held off expressly b/c there was NO indication that it was widescreen or fullscreen.

I checked this thread thinking that maybe the new "lower priced" sets were only released in widescreen. Guess not. I'm gonna hold off until the SEs are released in December, I guess.

I haven't heard a word about Special Editions of the Back to the Future series coming out in December. Where did you read about this?

By the way, do the new BTTF Trilogy packages have different UPCs than the ones that were released back in December 2002?

Umm?... Most Sam's Clubs are very close to Wal Mart stores so I don't understand your comment that saving approx $5 is lazy. Is there something I am missing here?

That's interesting ... you've made me worried and I've now unwrapped my set. I see no indications on the outside in whether it is fullcreen or widescreen. None at all, I don't want to unwrap it and it be foolscreen and then have the CS say that I can't return opened dvds.

Look at the UPC sticker. That's where these packages have had the ws/full difference spelled out.

These new versions of BttF should have a bright orange sticker saying full or wide on the front.

Reverse your logic.

There are many more Walmarts than Sam's Clubs (a lot of places don't have Sam's Clubs close). And then there's the membership stuff. It's a YMMV thing.

I saw the rereleased set at Walmart as well for $21, but it was Foolscreen only.
