Howard Hughes' "Scarface" DVD release ever?
I know it is in the "Scarface" Anniversary Collection Set, but anyone know if this will come out as a standalone? And why is Hughes an uncredited producer on this? I assumed from "The Aviator" this was one of his baby's. I didn't even know Howard Hawks directed it.
Also, how is the movie in general?

you want this to come as a stand alone, eh?
haha yeah it would be nice because so many people are missing out on this great film.
my guess is probably no, or in a howard hawks box.

Yeah, I bought Warner's Gangsters Box and loved it, so naturally I must track this down, the biggest gangster film not in that box set. I guess I'll have to buy the giftset

Be patient. I'm convinced that Universal will eventually release Howard Hawks' Scarface (1932) as a stand-alone DVD (after they're done wringing every last dime out of the "Collector's Edition" boxset for the inferior De Palma "remake"---which I refuse to buy on principle).
The Hawks version can sometimes be found on Ebay.

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
I'm going to laugh when that gets bid up to $96.50 by everybody in this thread who has expressed interest in owning the film. It's currently up to $21.50 with 6 days and change to go. I think somebody (perhaps the OP) should call dibs on this auction and everybody else should wait for the next one, otherwise y'all are just a couple of pool-shark buddies trying to out-hustle one another.

96.50? I doubt it. The giftset can be had for less than half that price. In fact, there's a guy in the dvdexchange forums who is selling the giftset for $30! IMHO, it's worth the $8 (actually, less than that since the auction isn't even over) for the 1983 version and all the other crap.
