I don't know how studios think some of these movies could actually make a buck!

I don't see how any one could have possibly thought this was going to be remotely watchable. I couldn't even watch the entire trailer.

Well, it just might make some money. If they brought Jim Carrey back, they would've had to pay him about $20 million. Since it's Jamie Kennedy, cab fare and a hot meal should cover it.

Which idiot gave it a good review? I checked RT yesterday and it was still at 0% when I checked in on it.

Of course it will, have these boards taught you anything?
The film will do very well in DVD sales/rentals. Kids will eat this up.
I like Jamie Kennedy, I thought his show was great, and MALIBU'S MOST WANTED was a surprise. But this is garbage. New Line Cinema just doesn't know when to quit. And I didn't even like the first MASK film!
Plus, well, Alan Cumming is one of worst actors around. Without Nightcrawler, he would be nothing.

Explain to me why this has an estimated budget of 100 million..

Sure it's IMDB, but I can't seem to find any other numbers. This movie is not very smart for a business move. You make a sequel 10 years later and expect people to care when the first wasn't very good. This works as just a CGI testing ground/demo reel.
even with a huge dvd sales, this thing needs to have some kick ass international numbers to make it even break even.

Ok, I have to admit I think he's very funny. I saw him on satge and he was excellent. I also liked him in Romy and Michelle. But I won't be seeing Son of the Mask.

I remember seeing the trailer for this and thinking this has to be the worst movie ever made. That ridiculous talking baby jumping around and that stupid looking cartoon dog. Yikes.

I was waiting for somebody to bring that up. That number is waaaaaay off. If New Line was going to spend 100 mil on a MASK sequel, they would've given Carrey 50 of it to return.

Lots of pee and fart jokes. Most parents seem to find this crap OK for their kids (I disagree), but that's about it.

I agree with you on all of that, minus the Malibu's Most Wanted part (which ended up being a complete let down for me).
Plus, well, Alan Cumming is one of worst actors around. Without Nightcrawler, he would be nothing.
How can you dislike a guy who plans on releasing candles known as "Cumming On Air?" I like the guy, I just happen to think he's like Christoper Walken when it comes to picking movie roles. The guy just simply won't turn ANYTHING down.

From an interview with Kal Penn:
“That’s a very over the top script,” Penn said. “It was actually kind of fun to work on. It’s $100 million budget. I don't know how you spend $100 million, but I saw how you come close. It’s live action with a lot of animation and special effects in it. So every character is not one dimensional, but exaggerated.

And like I said, that is the only numbers I can find. Can you provide anything that shows a more accurate budget that isn't waaaaaaaaaaaay off? Till then, I'm working with it.

$100,000,000
The figure you see above is what New Line Cinema paid to make this horrendously inept piece of garbage posing as family entertainment. It's downright insulting, not only to the audience that pays to see this, but also to every struggling screenwriter or director with a dream to make a movie that fails.
Even with a lower budget. this movie will take some time to even get out of the red. It is just that bad.

A review that takes its info from the IMDB, but forget it...
Do you think it cost that much? When was the last time you saw a 100 million dollar film that toplined the likes of Jamie Kennedy and Alan Cumming?
Kal Penn or not, I find it hard to believe. But I will wait until I get some better numbers. Continue "working with it."

$100,000,000 seems really high. Didn't Time Warner cap New Line's budgets for films at a much smaller rate (something like $40 to 50 million) unless they had permission to go higher. I can't imagine WB wanting to spend that kind of money on something since they are still recovering from over-budgeted FX movies like Osmosis Jones and Pluto Nash.

I think you're missing the point where I said this
Sure it's IMDB, but I can't seem to find any other numbers.
So I ask. provide some numbers. The Kal Penn interview only helps back up that statement so till we get different numbers then that is what we will work with.
as for how much I think it took. Well, personally I think if it did have a 100 million budget, then someone is walking around with 90 million in their pocket. But how long has this been in the works?
This old nintendo power ad shows that it has been in the works for some time now.
I really don't know what the budget was. I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually 100 million and I wouldn't be surprised if it was 20 million (uwe boll style) but till we get different numbers, when we discuss it turning a profit or not, I will baset what we talk about on what information is provided.

So new numbers are showing it's $84 million to make instead of the prior released info of $100 million.
With an opening weekend gross of 7 million... this has a LOOOOOOONG way to go before it breaks even.
