Any word on She's Gotta Have It?
Now that Malcolm X and School Daze have been reissued, it brings to mind that She's Gotta Have It, Spike Lee's first commercial film, has never been released on DVD. Does anyone know if there's a rights issue or if it's floating between studios? I know that Criterion did the excellent laserdisc back in the 90s (which I own) and I've sent them an e-mail on it with no reply.

Spike Lee allegedly said during a Q&A last year that Criterion would be releasing She's Gotta Have It on DVD. I did a Google search but can't locate the original posting (it was posted at the Criterion forum). So take that with a grain of salt.
When did MGM acquire the rights?

I know I'm alone on this, but I'm waiting for a Girl 6 release too.

It better have some sweet extras to make up for not being Criterion. Now let's cross our fingers for Lee's award-winning student short, JOE'S BED-STUY BARBERSHOP: WE CUT HEADS.
Oh and, yes, William, you are alone... Great soundtrack by Prince, though...
