Greatest American Hero question?
So far I've watched the first 2 discs. Stereo sound is very clear & not bad. The video is pretty good- much better than Miami Vice. Here's my question. On the second episode of disc 2, where Rhonda's mother is kidnapped, they dubbed over every time someone says Ralph Hinkley (hero's name). They replaced it with Mr. Handley? I only watched one episode after, and didn't notice anyone saying his name, but when I watched some of the extras they show him writing Mr. Hinkley on the board. The dubbing was very obvious- didn't sound the same & didn't match mouths. Why would they change his name in just one episode? And Rhondas mom even called him Mr. Handey, and he corrects her with Handley? I thought maybe this was at the same time as Reagan being shot by John Hinkley. I can't think of any other reason to try to change the main charqacter's name on a popular show.

The review on this site addresses your question. Hinkley shot Reagan just shortly after this show started. They changed the name and I would assume redubbed episodes that were already completed. I even remember usage of "Mr. H" by his students for a while.
