What's the cheapest way to get all the channels?
Directv? cox? something else? I want to get all basic and premium channels as well as the movie channels and get the DVR or TIVO thingy. I already have cox telephone and cox internet - is there something cheaper besides these two that I don't know about? Like to keep this under 100 bucks a month.

Steal if from your nieghbor. I'm guessing Direct TV would be the cheapest because I don't know how much Cox, comcast or other cable companies charge. You could try shopping around and finding what is in your area and the prices.

I have most of the digital channels (there are a few tiers that I do not subscribe to), all the movie channels, HD channels and the internet through cox and my bill is usually around $100-105. I don't have the DVR unit, but I think it's something like an extra $8 per month.

The best way iS if you have a FRIEND THAT CAN GET YOU THE "CHIP"

I hear the best way is to have a girlfriend/wife that looks like Natalie Portman, then have your brother steal cable for you. but becareful folks, they may still your parents disney dvds while they are installing the CHIP cable. Then again, you can just ask your best friend who won the lotto, to lend you money or pay off your cable bill for life.

Jack, that is not the best way -- did you not read the hint? The answer to getting all the channels is
I think it's an anagram or a cipher code of some kind. Once I crack the hint I too shall have all the channels.

I was pricing out Cox and it looks like it's over 100 bucks for everything (I have 3 tvs to hook up, but only 1 that needs the dvr and the HD). Isn't there another tv provider besides those two? Does Qwest do TV? Zoom or something?

Well even though they are going belly up I still stand behind Voom. Great premise, poorly executed.
My package: All standard cable channels + @20 unique HD channels + ESPN-HD(Marquee pack) + locals in HD for $39.99 per month. $9.99 for HD receiver rental. $50 a month total. If you wanted to add every movie channel which includes some in HD, they have/had a $79 package. Only thing that sucked/sucks is the per room fee. $15. Ouch! So I have basic cable in the rest of the house. $13. Which doesn't bother me, most shows I watch are network shows and even at that 95% of the time I watch on the HD set.
So:
$50 - Voom
$13 - Cable for rest of house
$6.95 - Tivo monthly
$70 a month for 80+ channels + another 23 digital music channels.
Their marketing department sucks. As well as the installers that screwed over so many people. Way to take a good thing and screw it up royaly.
On the upside, once they do shut down, and since their subscriber base is so low, I doubt anyone will come knocking for equipment, leaving users with a HD reciever and antenna to get locals for free. I've read on other forums a lot of people signing up now just for this possible reason.

That only works if your parents are the kind that would have cable. If your 30 or older chances are you parents (min 50 but most likely 60+) are of the generations that don't bother with cable because they don't like it or can't understand it or both.
Of course it wouldn't be wise to move in with your parents if they are in a "retirement" home.
