Cowboy Bebop REMIX

A new "special edition" as they call it coming out for everyone's favorite anime series.

Finally got the page to load... the information is just a small clip, so i'll quote the site here:

According to the latest issue of Anime Insider magazine, Bandai Entertainment will be releasing Cowboy Bebop REMIX, a new Cowboy Bebop special edition, starting this summer.

REMIX will feature a completely remixed and remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround sound and remastered video under the direction/supervision of Shinichiro Watanabe. REMIX will include new extras such as interviews with the US voice actors and actresses, collections of trailers, promos, the Session 0 extras (Japanese Interviews witht he staff and cast, story digest of the second half of the series, Tank music videos) and more.

REMIX will be released over six-discs with the release schedule tba.

Sounds great to me. I've been meaning to pick up this series, but never got around to it. I'll definitely grab these when they come out.

There is a long thread discussing about the REMIX, with some comments from the studios representative.

You say that like the new one won't be 'uber expensive'.

I've been slowly buying the set whenever I've seen a used one. I guess I can stop but it'll be nice to know the release schedule.

Sounds like it'll be a nice set.

Just now finishing up buying the first set (don't have #5 yet). No way I'm starting over with these; not worth it to me, I'm satisfied with the current releases.

the le is just a box set that has all 6 current sessions boxed together that went out of print. thats why its so much money. that box just has 2.0 sound and ok picture quality.

NOTHING will top the original R1 box; the quality of the new discs might be nice, but unless they come out with a nice box in a very limited run (which they probably will), the original R1 set will still continue to fetch a pretty penny.

speaking of which, i have one if anyone's interested email me.

This probably isn't the proper place for this, but I'll ask anyway. I've only seen Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door. While I enjoyed it, I am not an overly enthusiastic fan of the film by any means. Would investing in the show be a wise investment for someone who slightly enjoyed the movie?

Personally i think you would have appreciated the movie a whole lot more if you had seen the entire series. You really have to see it all the way through to realize how truly special this show is.

Yeah good thing I sold mine off for $200+ last year. I figured a new set was going to come out soon enough since those DVDs came out in 1998.

My roommate just bought the perfect sessions after quite a hunt. I'll just hate to break the bad news to him.

Bebop has great character development which you're not going to get from the movie. It also has, IMHO, the most satisfying ending of any anime I've seen. Something most anime lacks.

How many episodes are there? I've been considering picking up the movie, but if y'all agree that the episodes are the way to go, maybe I'll pick 'em up.

I love the series but the movie is just okay. It does have nice animation but the story just isn't that interesting -- it has the feel of a regular episode padded out to two hours.
The series visits a number of different genres (everything from "Alien"-style horror to John Woo-esque gunplay), so if you're bored with a particular episode, the next one might be more to your liking.

both are a good way to go. I believe it's 26 episodes and the movies take place during the middle of episode 23 or 24 (I'm sure there will be many folks who will be glad to correct me on any of these pieces of info)

I really don't see the current limited edition box set fetching that much once the new set comes out. I'm sure we will also see it released like this:

Disc 1 + empty box (for 10-15 bucks more than just buying Disc 1 on its own)
Monthly single dvds for six months
then when all the dvds are released it will be re-released in one large brick... WITH LIMITED COLLECTORS EXCLUSIVE PIN SET!!1111ONE11111!!!

What are these Session 0 extras? They're not talking about Session XX are they?

I'll stick with my discs regardless, I really only care about the actual shows. Bandai never has made good extra features, and having anything from the English crew is really just detrimental to me.
