Can't tell by looking at DVD Savant link on the main page, as those links never show his bottom-line grade.
I also tried searching under all reviews, but it doesn't show up.

I am surprised Ass Worship 6 made the list but the Gangsters Collection did not.

Thanks for replying... wonder what it got?I'm only guessing that DVD Savant doesn't use the same rating system as some of the other reviewers. He did give it "excellent" (his highest rating) across the board, so that's a very good recommendation.

I'm only guessing that DVD Savant doesn't use the same rating system as some of the other reviewers. He did give it "excellent" (his highest rating) across the board, so that's a very good recommendation. If you look at the link you posted above, you'll see several Savant ratings listed as Collector's Series (eg. new Criterion M). For some reason, the bottom line review is left off when accessing reviews from his main page (or the DVD Talk Home Page), but you can find them if you search the review database. (2 different pages involved: 1 with the Savant logo, 1 with just the review).
I asked about this in the Feedback forum, but no one responded. It's unfortunate that the site tries to promote Collectors Series as being truly outstanding DVDs, yet falls short of including a simple bottom-line grade on the reviews of arguably it's lead reviewer.
I like Savant's reviews. This week he reviews several Criterions that I've never seen before. If he gave any of them a Collector's Series rating, I'd be inclined to make a Blind Buy. But the way the site is set up, I can't & won't.

I heard that there was a recent shortage of Collector's Series accolades, and the run-off for the last one was between this and one other title. Unfortunately The Golden Girls Season One took home the gold.

I'm not! It finally cleared up all those nagging questions I had after Ass Worship 5.

You're comparing Ass Worship 6 (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=13390) to a mainstream release (apples to oranges)?!? What a tough crowd! :D

Anybody know yet? If you type in "Gangster" in the DVD Review search engine,
it still doesn't come up.

I'm not sure I understand why it matters. Will you not buy it if he didn't label it "collectors edition"? I don't get it.
It can be a little confusing when you get to some reviewers writing through two separate links, but once you get into the actual content of the review you should have a chance to see what their thoughts are.

But if so, why is there even such a thing as a DVD Talk Collector Series?
What's the point of having a link that pulls up all reviews for Collectors Series DVDs on the home page of this site?
I like seeing the ratings, they add more legitimacy not only to the DVD but also to this site...
they're a good thing, not a bad thing.
Anyways, I won't beat a dead horse anymore, I'm just curious, that's all ...
it appears that whoever is responsible for adding reviews to the main database somehow skipped Savant's entries on that day.

Why don't you just email Glenn if you have questions regarding why/what/when/where, etc of his column versus his standalone reviews? I know he answers his emails and would likely give you a detailed response to questions specific to his reviews. I know The Blue Room features shorter reviews that never merit a full review that goes in the database and maybe such is the case with Glenn's column too.
As far as the "why is there even such a thing as a DVD Talk Collector Series?" question, I'd suggest you ask the website owner, G!, so he can give you the official reason. My unofficial reasoning is that some people are too needy of validation from others and need a special rating to blind buy titles. For the most part, titles getting the Collector rating have a lot of merit (although tastes still vary and the previously mentioned AW6 might not be what you're looking for) as explained in their individual reviews. Rather than skim the reviews and focus on the rating alone, read them and find out WHY someone gave a title the rating before dropping your hard earned cash.
