Wow - the good news just keeps pouring in (and the cash pouring out!). "Beau Geste" is one of my favorite films of all-time, and I'm a big fan of "Lives of a Bengal Lancer" as well. Glad that I will finally be able to own these on DVD.
I recall bemoaning the lack of a "Beau Geste" release just a very short time ago when someone posted news on a "Four Feathers (1939)" upcoming release. With the Red Sox winning the World Series, the Flynn box set, this and assorted other good news - I truly am running out of things to complain about.
I know, I'm still waiting for "Last of the Mohicans (1936)".

Normally I would be thrilled at this news, but Universal seems to screw up everything they touch. I wish Warner owned these...
If it were anyone but Universal I'd pre-order. Guess, I'll wait for reviews.

I'm definitely picking this one up...but, because of all the problems with previous Universal multi-disc classics (Best of Abbott & Costello, Classic Monsters, etc...), I'll be getting it at a B&M (just in case I again have to do multiple exchanges in order to get a working copy.)

Thanks for the link to DVD Beaver's review. I'm really hoping Costco will be carrying this (they seem to get most of Universal's "Franchise" collections) as it wasn't listed in any of this week's B&M ads (Target is advertising the Brando set, but not the Cooper.)

I'm a little surprised there aren't more Lubitsch fans excited about "Design for Living" being on this set. I actually had this set pre-ordered before I realized the film was on it, and it being there made the set even better for me. It's not Lubitsch's best but it's still a gem, and with "Heaven Can Wait" coming out soon and "Ninotchka" coming out with September's Garbo set (finally!!!! goodbye crummy VHS tape!) I'm beyond thrilled.

Between Design For Living and Beau Geste, I could not get my hands on this soon enough. I'd pay 16 or 17 bucks for Design For Living by itself, so throw in 4 other movies and this set really is a no-brainer. From what I've watched of the set, the transfers really are pretty nice.
