You can order I Heart Huckabees (the two disc SE) for $21.99 at fye.com. It's going for about $30 everywhere else. In addition, FYE may have a rebate for this title when it streets in about two weeks.

This is interesting... I am going to sit it out and see what happens with the prices on release date. I really enjoyed this film, #3 on my top 10 for the year (Wahlberg, Schwartzman are fantastic) even though I can acknowledge its a bit jumbled but I feel it works well. Hope to pick this up without paying too much.

Thanks for the heads up! I enjoyed the movie but the high msrp stinks!

That's crazy, even DDD has it for near $30. Could this be a mis-price? FYE is usually one of the more expensive retailers.

fye's rebates also require the proof of purchase tab from inside the dvd. that bothers a lot of peeps since it "lowers the value" or whatever. I bought Metallica: SOme Kind of Monster at fye for $15 the day it came out....it was $25 at best buy and everywhere else. it had a $5 rebate, too.

Bringing this back since the release is upcoming... Would this be the price in store on release day also?

I bought Hero with the FYE rebate and it had a sticker UPC on the slipcase. I peeled it off-- carefully, of course-- and sent it in with my rebate form and receipt, and I just recently got the $5 back. There was no visible damage to the package. Many DVDs have UPC stickers, which can be easily removed.

I just checked, and it looks like there will not be a rebate on the SE of Huckabees. There is a $5 rebate on the one disc, however. Just FYI...

Oh, well. The price is still the cheapest around. I wonder if it will be the same price in stores...

I doubt it. My guess is that the B&M will have it for $29.99 or more.

FYE will also accept the price sticker (which has its own UPC) as a substitute to destroying the packaging. My friend and I have both done this a number of times and always recieved our rebates.

by the way, when I bought the Metallica dvd, the price sticker (on the top of the cardboard sleeve) took off most of the graphic/cover when it was removed. then the security tape (the one that goes along the sides of the dvd) was taped to the inner cover.....which was also damaged when trying to remove. either way, I threw away the price sticker.....although I wasn't really planning on mailing in for the rebate anyway.

Well, just for the record. I also bought the Metallica DVD, and I took of the stickers just fine. No damage. It all depends how you finesse it.

circuit city will be selling this for $24.99, which pretty much kills the fye deal once you add shipping and waiting for it to arrive.

Thats good to know. Still wish someone would have it under $20, but I guess thats just wishfull, cheap thinking.

I think it's reasonable thinking. I do not understand why the high price for a 2 DVD edition of a DVD. Many A 2-DVD new release has been premiered with a $19.99 price tag or lower. Why so high a sticker on this title?

because this is the perfect movie to do this with

it is full of extras, and it's a cult-ish movie, those who liked it loved it and would be willing to pay the 30 bucks if pressed over getting a barebones editon.

Hmmm... you maybe right. I do not recall spending this much on a single movie on DVD, besides Criterion releases...

P.S.
Deep Discount DVD just price-matched me for the FYE price, offering the set for $23.87 shipped. That's what I would recommend doing, as it turns out cheaper than Circuit City, after taxes.

Looks like it's time for me to start trading in dvds at Blockbuster again. I don't want to spend too much money on dvds (or anything, for that matter), since I find myself going crazy the past few months. My blockbuster has been giving me an average of $6.50 per disc (and these aren't the latest, new releases we're talking about), so I can probably trade 5 discs (that I could care less about owning any more) and be able to get it at their presumably high $29.99 price.

I'm thinking they will carry this because they've had the Ray: LE's on release day, as well as the Anchorman 2-packs, on the first day of release.

OFF TOPIC: BTW, Comfort Eagle, you don't happen to be a Cake (the band) fan, by any chance? Just assuming that would be the case with your forum name, and all. They happen to be one of my favorite bands, and saw them live twice this past October and November.

So, the FYE $21.99 deal was only on their website, and not in-store?

The FYE I went to didn't even have the SE. They said it hadn't come in yet. CC was sold out. Best Buy had it (for about $8 more than CC).

If you have a copy of the CircuitCity ad take it back with your receipt and get it matched to their $24.99 price if you're heading to BestBuy again before Sunday.

the problem is that Circuit City's price should go up after this week (assuming that $24.99 is a sale price and not the regular price). If that's the case, he won't be able to get a PM to Circuit City's $24.99 price after Saturday.

I don't have the pricematch policy in front of me, but I remember reading it on the wall on a couple of different occasions and I'm pretty sure it reads something to the effect of "If you find a better advertised price within 30 days, we'll match it" without saying that the price has to be current as of when you bring it, just advertised within 30 days of the sale.

there's a reason why they look at the dates of the ad.

anyone good at debating issues can probably easily get this pm'd somewhere from Target's current ad (http://tinypic.com/1s00lg) for 17.99..it's listed right next to the Heat SE for 17.99 and can easily be interpreted for that price. I'll try it myself later this week.

I did this earlier today. Took it to Best Buy, helpful girl at the register PMed with absolutely no objection, and I walked out with it for $19 and change.

I was almost finished checking out at BB with this pricematch until some hotshot manager strolled over to the cashier. The cashier had already entered the pricematch into the system and was taking my money, but then she looked at the manager and said to him, "Wow, isn't this a great price? They beat us by $12!" I knew I was screwed when she opened her mouth, because then the manager demanded to see the ad, and then we got into an argument over what the stupid "Low Price" written underneath the movie means. Even though a lobotomized chimp can see that the price in the ad is $17.99, he claimed it only applied to Heat and that "Low Price" just meant that they guaranteed a low price on the DVD, and nothing more. -rolleyes- I had to stand there while he showed her how to void the entire transaction and start over from scratch. My blood pressure was boiling since I had gotten so close only to have a single offhand sentence ruin my bargain, but I told them to forget it and just bought the other stuff I had brought to the register. So I drove two blocks to Circuit City and walked out the door with a successful pricematch and no hassle whatsoever. Beware Best Buy managers if you try this pricematch!

Actually, I'm fairly sure that is what this does mean. Get Shorty was the third movie pictured, and it had a 19.99 price under it, thus ruining the whole "all three movies are each 17.99" idea. I'm not real up on the "Low Price" explanation, but I believe it exists so local stores can set their own price on release day/week to stay competitive, and not be locked into a national ad price.

Yeah, I know... but I had RZ certificates to use up, and getting those discounts was a small compensation for the hard time they gave me. Target and CC will be getting a lot more of my business from now on.

So just because you weren't able to swindle BB out of a few bucks (I know it's not actually 17.99 at Target), you're going to semi-boycott them?

It's 14.95 at wal-mart.....according to dvdpricesearch.net

Target didn't have it when I went. As I said earlier, I bought it from BEst Buy, but the disk is flawed (freezes with 3 minutes left). I'll return it, I guess and maybe try at Walmart.

all Walmart prices are different so unless you live near that Walmart in Chicago, IL I doubt that you'll find it close to that price.

I'm happy cuz I got mine for a $19.99 misprice at Virgin Megastore in NYC (they had signs advertising New Releases for $19.99 and they pictured the 2-disc SE...they later added labels saying that the single disc is $19.99 and the 2-disc is $31.99).

Swindle... -rolleyes- Whatever. I took a clearly printed advertisement to a store in the hopes of getting a bargain. The local Target had no advertisement retractions in their store.

That said, it's a fine line between tact and treating their customers like full-blown morons when it comes to situations like this, but they repeatedly cross it. I've never had a bad experience at Circuit City, especially with pricematching things, and my local Best Buy's managers and cashiers have been getting worse as the year rolls on, instituting their own slant on pricematching policies and even outright refusing non-misprinted pricematches to me in the past because it was "too low." Why shouldn't I give them less business?

stupid raincheck. I took mine back and all they'd do was let me exchange it for another. they had a couple in stock. we'll see if it's got any problems this afternoon. checked wal-mart (which is next door) and I couldn't find either the regular or SE, but managed to pick up an itchy children's jump suit. :p
