I apologize if this isn't the correct forum for this post. I have been looking at the Asian Collector's Sets on ebay of American tv releases and I was wondering if they are basically the same as the American releases? Has anyone purchased a set? If I can get Sopranos Seasons 1-4 for $80 with only a different packaging, I'll be a happy man. Prior thanks for any help.

These are all bootlegs.

These are bootlegs (most of them) that is why they are so cheap, plain and simple! Buyer beware and usually frowned upon talking here.

In addition to being cheap, they are almost always very poor quality. You get what you pay for. In fact, with asian bootlegs, you often don't even get that.

ah... gotcha. Thank you, knew it sounded too good to be true.

Sometimes sellers in the US (probably trying to unload ones they got stuck with) aren't even straightforward enough to advertise these as Asian collector's editions - the try to downplay it by saying there are a few Chinese chracters on the box, or you will notice that the subtitles are Chinese, Malay, Thai etc - be wary anytime you see something selling much cheaper than the going rates.

I bought X-Files in Japan and it's not a bootleg and it was an asian version, not American.

NOT ALL ASIAN DVDS ARE BOOTLEGS
