K-Mart has it for $15, along with The Terminal & Catch Me if You Can, Van Helsing and The Mummy and Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick. They're in this week's flyer, so you should be able to price match.

Same goes for Dawn of the Dead. The cover in the ad is for the theatrical cut. Does anyone know if they have the uncut version of Dawn as part of the 2-pack as well?

Is the director's cut really all that worth it? I figure since I can usually only find "Shaun" for $17 and up, this would be a great bargain.

Awesome find OP! There wasn't a K-Mart close to me, so I stopped by the nearest Best Buy on my way to work. Price-matched for both Shaun of the Dead/Dawn of the Dead and Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick. $34 and change out the door. :)
On a side note, is it just me...or are many of the employees at Best Buy total snobs? The guy who rang up my order tried to weasel out of it numerous times. First he said there was no start date on the K-Mart sale. I mentioned to him that the ad was in today's paper, so it must have started today. I then showed him that the sale prices were good through Feb. 3rd. He just kind of shrugged, as if to give me the impression that I wasn't going to get the deal. Then he went and got the manager who was really cool. He quickly glanced at the ad and said to give me the four DVD's for $7.50 each, just like K-Mart had advertised. The snotty little employee kept making little groaning noises as he was ringing my stuff up and saying how I was getting a really good deal. Well no sh**! Dumbass. What does he care if I get the DVD's for a good deal. I mean, it was a good deal. The DVD's rang up for a total of $86 and change before the price-match. The only reason I even went to Best Buy was because I had a gift card. I don't think I'll be going back to Best Buy for quite some time.

This is a dumb question, but did you pick them up seperately at BB or did they sell the 2-packs there as well? I have some GC there that I'd rather use too.

Going on memory, which might be fuzzy since I originally saw it in theaters last spring and the uncut version a month ago, but I think the uncut version has a little bit more character development. Mostly though, I think it has more gore. Anyone who's seen it recently, correct me if I'm wrong.

I ventured out into the post-ice storm weather to K-Mart for this deal and they actually had it! This is the first time in recent memory (possibly ever) that K-Mart had an advertised DVD deal in stock. They had all of the advertised 2-packs, but I only wanted the "Dawn/Shaun" set, as that's a great price for the unrated "Dawn" and "Shaun".

Hmmmm...that's interesting. I never even really thought about it. I just figured that as long as they had both movies in the ad, the deal would apply. I guess YMMV when it comes to this deal, but it looks like a few others are getting in on the deal too.

I went to the nearest Kmart today and picked it up. It had the unrated DotD and was the only copy there. I brought it to the register and it rang up at $20. I said I thought it was only $15; it was in the circular. The lady called the electronics department and said it wasn't on sale and that was the price. WTF?! I bought it anyway since it was the only copy, I had made the trip and had wanted these both for a while. I get home and check Kmart's website and it turns out this store (and one other in the surrounding area) didn't put out a circular. Does this mean they don't honor the price of nearly every other Kmart in the country? Do you think there's any way to get my $5 back?

not only does it have a different UPC, the 2-pack costs the retailer a lot less than the discs individually. It may cost the retailer say $16 for the 2-pack and $16 for each individual disc.

I just picked this up about 2 hours ago at the Ontario K-Mart. They only had one left, which was held for someone else. The lady sold it to me anyway, though, since the person took too long to get there. I was expecting the theatrical cut of Dawn of the Dead, but it turned out to be the Unrated, which I already have. I just wanted SotD. Probably just gonna sell DotD.

I went to two separate BB. Yesterday I went to BB by my house and PMed Van Helsing & The Mummy. Of course they didn't have the two-pack, so I brought the two separate DVDs to the CS counter and they did it w/o a problem.
Today I went to the BB by my job and PMed Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. the K-Mart ad shows the unrated Pitch Black but the regular version of Chronicles of Riddick. I wanted the unrated Director's Cut version of both. I picked up the UR DC version of both to the counter and PMed them w/ no problem.
In both cases, they kept the ad so I had to print out a new one from K-Mart's website.
Two questions:
1) Am I correct that BB's policy is to give 110% of their competitor's price? Meaning, I'm supposed to get the cheaper price plus 10% of the difference.
2) Is the Shaun/Dawn of the Dead movies any good? Are they serious horror flicks or are they more like Resident Evil? What's a well known movie that would be similar to Shaun/Dawn of the Dead so I can compare.
thanks all!

1. They give you 10% of the difference in price.
2. Both are excellent. Shaun is a horror/comedy, but not a spoof, and Dawn is a cool (but different) remake of the horror classic.

The CSR I asked said the 10% was only if I already purchased the item and came back for a price match/correction. Since I am already purchasing the item at the sale price, I don't qualify for the extra 10%. I kind of already knew she was wrong, but I didn't want to push the issue especially since I am getting away with a killer deal (unrated instead of rated and separate DVDs instead of 2-pack)
thanks, bobbin

actually, the CSR was right. You gotta buy it first, then come back within 30 days and get your refund plus 10% of the difference at the customer service desk.
Some CSRs will give you 10% of the difference at the point of sale but they would have to calculate that math in their head and sadly the majority of them can't do that math in their head.

I previously bought Chronicles of Riddick for $15 at BBY (I got a bonus DVD at least), so I only wanted Pitch Black in that 2-pack. I looked at 2 Walmarts and they had no Chronicles of Riddick and about a dozen pan & scan Pitch Blacks. I then went to Best Buy and it was the same story -- no Pitch Black DVDs in widescreen and no 2-packs.
From past experience on these 2-pack deals, it's a YMMV whether they'll pricematch them as 2 separate titles. In the past I've been successful on this, but BBY has a way of coding 2 separate items as a package price, and since I had hoped to buy both for $7.50 each and later return Riddick, I knew it probably wouldn't work at BBY. I only looked because I was already there. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble, and I'll wait for Pitch Black to go on sale by itself for $7.50 or live without. I guess I was somewhat amazed that none of these stores had any widescreen Pitch Black DVDs! Most people I know and most posts I read are by people who favor widescreen, yet I usually see more pan & scan DVDs for sale in stores.
I haven't seen Shaun of the Dead, and while DotD (2004) was worth seeing I didn't think it was worth buying even at $7.50.
Typically any time they put out 2 packs I already own 1 out of the 2 DVDs in the pack. I had to laugh at Walmart which had a selection of several bundles of 3 DVDs. My enjoyment was to see if I could find any commonality between the 3 bundled titles (unfortunately I can't remember any of them) and I was unable to find any logic behind the bundles. I almost think their computer system randomly chooses them. As usual, I probably owned 1 title in each pack.

I stopped in the local K-Mart today and they had many 2-packs, all with their $15 sales tags, but no tag and no stock for DotD/SotD. I grabbed their flyer from the front of the store and sure enough, it's advertised. I was running low on time and had to be somewhere, so I'll stop by there later this week and see if they have stock. If not, raincheck city. Me wantee me movies!

I asked about this once. most of the population out there doesn't like black bars. I work with a few people like that. Also need to keep in mind that the people that post here are dvd addicts that understand the difference and want the movie the way it was meant to be.

I went to Kmart and looked forever before I found the 2-packs. I got Dawn of the Dead Unrated Wide Director's Cut/Shawn of the Dead and Riddick/Pitch Black, both Unrated Wide Director's Cut.
