What's the most popular production year in your collection?
I was looking at some of the stats in my DVDProfiler and I came across a rather startling discovery.
As far as I'm concerned at least, 2001 was a phenomenal year for films and my favourite year of all by quite a considerable margin.
Sure, the graph includes a minor number of TV DVDs as well, but I still can't believe how many DVDs I own from just that single year
Looking at my Top 20 favourite films, I can see that 5 of them are also from 2001 (Donnie Darko, Vanilla Sky, Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, Mulholland Drive, Avalon).
Those of you who also use DVDProfiler (or other DVD collection software), what is the most popular year in your collection? (In DVD Profiler, you can see this by choosing Tools > Charts & Graphs and then Statistics > General > Production Years)
Those of you who don't use DVD collection software, which is your favourite year for movies and why?

Pretty sure you would see the curve move up and down with the age group. It's a typical up and down curve. We'll see.
Side note, I can't seem to get DVDProfiler to show that graph beyond 1978 for some reason. Hmm....

These kinds of topics feed my OCD, but I think it's interesting to see how people distribute their collections. I deducted TV titles & compilations, & came up with this:
1. 1974 (19 titles)
2. 2002 (18)
2. 1988
4. 2000 (17)
4. 1999
4. 1998
7. 1959 (16)
8. 1964 (15)
8. 1962
8. 1960
8. 1955
12. 1948 (14)
And I'm 43.
1. 1974 (19 titles)
2. 2002 (18)
2. 1988
4. 2000 (17)
4. 1999
4. 1998
7. 1959 (16)
8. 1964 (15)
8. 1962
8. 1960
8. 1955
12. 1948 (14)
And I'm 43.

Out of 456 total DVD's (according to DVDProfiler), my top years are:
DVD's Years
35 2001
30 2000, 2003
26 2002
23 1998, 1999
20 1995, 1997
The graph is a slow but steadily growing slope starting back in 1925.

I don't have my collection in Profiler, so I'll need to count them in Aficionado...but I don't have time right now...about to leave for church.
Question though...how are you all counting TV show sets? Because a good 45% or so of my collection is TV shows.

1939.
So many classics, just off the top of my head now: Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Wuthering Heights, Gunga Din, The Roaring Twenties, Stagecoach, Rules of the Game, &c. I know there are at least a few more too.
