That is a pretty solid price on Star Wars: Republic Commando for a new release. But it is CompUSA, so they probably only have 3 in stock and are using this as a marketing tool to get foot traffic to the store. Good for a PM somewhere else though.

The Ray LE is becoming increasingly less attractive. First, it's apparently very thin on material not found on the regular edition, and then it's twice as much as the regular edition. Universal has to be one of the consumer unfriendly studios around. I'll be getting the regular edition along with Ray Genius.

I'm sure they are. Fox re-released the first Die Hard as a single disc recently and it has 16x9 enhancement and DTS. Basically, it's disc 1 of the "5 STAR" set.

I guess I won't be buying anything this week. I was contemplating the Karate Kid collection for $24.99 (4 movies on 3 DVDs), but I looked in vain at Amazon.com for some detailed specs and then searched DVD-Basen for some reviews and found 1 rather useless one. It talked a lot about the movies themselves and when it got to the transfer quality and comparisons to previous versions (the only part of reviews I care about), there were a few general sentences.

I really only wanted the Karate Kid in LBX (on the assumption the old release that I avoided is not simply open matte), but I wouldn't mind 2 & 3. I'm going to hold off on this set until I see some detailed reviews and wait for the price to drop below $20 someday. Maybe at DDD's next 25% sale...

There was also a Look Who's Talking pack for which there were no details or reviews to be found, but I only liked the first one. I guess new releases of old movies don't receive much attention. I wonder how many weeks or months it'll take before there is a single review of Anchor Bay's Death Hunt release from last week.
