I was going to pick up the Back To The Future Trilogy but there was no way to tell if it was full screen or widescreen. They did not have the orange sticker on the outside.

I wish Costco would advertise these deals weeks or months in advance. I paid $14.99 for the Predator SE all by itself, and then just bought Predator 2 SE for $12.99 before I saw this post. I would've waited to buy Predator SE (which I unfortunately opened but haven't watched) if I had known I could get it for only a few dollars extra when it came out with Predator 2 SE. A fundamental tenant of capitalism (which isn't practiced by retailers in this country on purpose): the consumer cannot make the best purchase decisions without the free flow of information and prices. They keep teaching me the lesson not to buy anything when it is released unless the price per DVD is under $10. I haven't touched AvP because I haven't seen it, I heard it wasn't that good, and there were rumors it would have a better 2-DVD edition soon (the pattern of doing that with the Predator series has been established by Fox.)

Even if I bought the Costco Predator 1 & 2 pack, I doubt I could return the new Predator DVD in it because I bought it in August from Circuit City and even with receipt they would probably deny me the return.

you've gotta be kidding me. The Predator SE came out in August. It was $14.99 at FYE during release week and you could've knocked off an extra $5 if you pre-ordered the Star Wars SE from them (that's what I did). Not only that, but that came with free movie cash to see AvP.

The Predator SE was $26.98 when it came out on 8/10/04. It recently got an MSRP price drop to $19.99 which is the same as the Predator 2 SE.

2-packs usually don't come out until the movie has been out for a few months (i'm kinda surprised that they released one with Predator 2 already). They do this to increase sales on the product after the initial release.

Costco rarely ever advertises their prices to begin with and you expect them to look into their crystal ball before the product even comes out?

Again, if you buy the product early, you get the time premium on it. If you don't choose to utilize the time premium that's YOUR fault and noone elses. If you're so scared about prices dropping, only buy stuff on release week that you'll know you'll watch right away, otherwise wait for it.

Dabaomb, you are right, as usual. Thanks for reminding me about the AvP movie ticket which I had totally forgotten. Now I don't feel quite as bad about this Costco deal. That explains why I opened the Predator package without watching it. I now remember selling the AvP movie ticket to someone for $5 cash.

All I remembered when I saw the Costco ad is I had paid $14.99 for Predator at Circuit City and then this Tuesday I paid $12.99 for Predator 2 at BBY. Then I see Costco selling Predator + Predator 2 for $16.99 total and I was bummed about getting gipped $11, but it's really only $6 across 2 items after I subtract the $5 movie ticket. $3 each is in-line with what I expect for the "time premium" you refer to. The fact Costco can sell them this cheap just shows me how much profit margin there is in DVDs.

I guess I shouldn't complain about such things, but I can't help it. I've always speculated that some people in the management at such retailers do have an idea what package deals they may have in the future, but I guess expecting them to advertise such planned deals is wishful thinking. On the rare occasions studios announce an upcoming special edition before the first release comes out, I always appreciate knowing that so I avoid a double-dip (i.e. like on the LOTR trilogy), but sadly I think most studios purposefully double or triple-dip. If we get an AvP 2-DVD SE in the next year, then that will tell me it was a double-dip planned in advance.

You suggested holding off on new releases if I don't want to watch them now, so I'll skip AvP and see if it goes on sale for under $10 in the next year or if the 2-DVD SE appears.

By the way, I checked with 2 Circuit City stores about a return past 30 days with receipt on an unopened item, and they said they will not take anything back after 30 days no matter what. So I said in spite of the the fact that Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Borders, and most other stores (except Fry's Electronics) show some mercy around Christmas on unopened items without receipt, at no time during the year will Circuit City give a person store credit on a single DVD 1 second past the 30 day limit no matter what the circumstances? I was told "we have a very strict policy... no exceptions". My spreadsheet says I have only bought 3 DVDs from Circuit City since the start of 2002.

Question, are both Predators SEALED within the package.....kinda like a double seal? I already have Predator 1 SE. But I could probably sell the second one (Predator1) if I buy this package for more if it was sealed. Did most Costco's have many of these sets also?

There were about 20 copies at my local Costco. Both are double sealed as you describe, however, the packages have the typical NOT FOR INDIVIDUAL SALE stickers across the barcode. Once you remove the slipcovers, there are regular barcodes, but they look unique to Costco. Long story short, they are separately shrinkwrapped, but one look from the trained eye tells you they are from a set and not intended to be sold individually.
