Hey, just stopped by Costco to pick up some food and stuff for the house and noticed they had the Gangsters collection for $40.99
They had about 14-16 in stock.

I figure with sales tax added on my Amazon STL order is still slightly cheaper, but since STL is dead Amazon will be more expensive. Looks like the price is better then anything else online currently. Also many internet stores haven't even received any stock of the Gangster Collection yet. However I might be looking to Costco for future purchases for Warner box sets if that is a typical price, and Amazon STL is no longer a purchase option.

Costco with tax: $43.65
I saved a whole 19 cents, and a trip to Costco. The Amazon order is in "Shipping Soon" status.

Mine says the shipping estimate is Feb. 1. Maybe it is true about the free shipping going last. All my other pre-orders with free shipping arrived on or before the release date except the last two.

With tax this would cost me 43.45 at Costco. Amazon price with STL is 43.42 and a ship date of Feb 1!. There is a Costco literally across the street from my office. Guess where I'm going in 90 minutes.

I picked up the set at the Mission Valley Costco in San Diego last night. The price was $41.99 + tax. Total came out a bit over $45. They had dozens left in stock.

I did the same and had my wife pickup the set at Costco. Amazon was listing this oddly in my order status as to be fulfilled in March! They did get some orders out to people so it seems probable that they didn't forecast enough demand for this item. Forecasting demand is a tricky business but their pre-orders should have been a clue to the popularity of this item. They also didn't ship Mary Poppins in the first two days after I had that on pre-order for many weeks. Perhaps Amazon is dropping the ball. With that and cancelling STL it hasn't been their finest hour ... or week.
The price in Norwalk CT was 40.99 sorry that everyone didn't get this same price.

I had noticed lately that all preorders at Amazon sent with free shipping had an estimated ship date of one week after release date. That doesn't mean it actually shipped one week late . Most preorders shipped on release date or a day or two later. I just assumed they were trying to make standard shipping more attractive.
I also cancelled my Amazon preorder of the Gangster set on Wednesday and bought it at Costco. I watched Public Enemy and it looked amazing from what has previously been available.

I ended up not getting it at Costco ($42). It shipped yesterday from Amazon and will be delivered this afternoon courtesy of USPS.
Not bad. Just a couple of days after release.

I emailed Amazon about the delay and they claimed they received their stock late from their supplier, and also there was a large demand for the title but they were filling orders on a first come, first serve basis. Originally my order was estimated to ship January 28 (Pre-ordered November 8) but has now been pushed back to February 1.

Struck out on getting it from Amazon today. Its in the area though according to the tracking info. I pre-ordered on November 9. Mine was shipped from Deleware.

I decided to get it today from Costco for $40.99 plus sales tax. The Costco in my area had plenty of Gangster boxes in stock. Luckily my order status at Amazon didn't change while I was away, so I could still cancel it. It looks like Amazon didn't estimate their demand for this title very well. Usually most of my orders ship from the Fernley, Nevada warehouse around Sunday through Tuesday on the release week. I have 3 other orders this week at Amazon and 2 of those are now shipping soon. Just one less order to worry about.
