Thought this one was pretty good. So sad to know we are in the final countdown.
That lawyer surely knows how to use chopsticks.
Seems like scene would have been longer and more active a couple of years ago.

the only think I could think of at the end was "f'n Janet"..
at least we got an "asshole" in the first 5 minutes..
maybe Powell resigning might help Bochco change his mind?

Loved how both victims were complete assholes and their murderers actually elicited some sympathy from the squad.

I think the same exact words came out my mouth. That's what it has come to - they can only go as far as smooching on the couch.

Gotta disagree. While the FCC sucks for so many things, the ending of NYPD Blue is not their fault. Bochco could have easily moved this to cable, like The Shield on FX, or he could have gone to pay cable like HBO or Showtime and really ramped up the storylines.
Instead, he's ending NYPD Blue to start yet another series for the same network under the thumb of the same FCC. So his whining about the FCC is a smokescreen, in my opinion.

Well now that it is out that ABC wants to cancel it, he should be free to take it anywhere he wants now. Doubtful that will happen though.
I'm still waiting for HBO to start picking up Stephen Kings stories to make some solid mini-series done the right way. I doubt that is ever gonna happen either.

While the FCC is not at fault for the show coming to an end, the removal of all or even part of the threat of FCC fines would improve the show dramatically, so I can't see why any programming director wouldn't want to bring in a show with an already existing large fanbase.

The ratings would go down significantly meaning less advertising $$$ meaning less revenue. Could Bochco afford to pay Dennis Franz what he was making before? I doubt it.

The FCC refuses to define exactly what is going to cost a broadcaster millions of dollars based on one uptight busybody sending in a complaint, so broadcasters decide to err on the side of being way too restricted. We need a responsibility revolution in this country; where it is finally acknowledged that it is each individual's responsibility to pick what they want to watch, read, and listen to - and each parent's responsibility to make those same decisions for their children. They say you know obscenity when you see it, and I say there is nothing obscene about seeing Jacqueline Obradors' "side-boobage" at 10:55 p.m.

As I said, NYPD Blue has a built-in following as a bonus. No matter where you take it, those fans would follow if they could. Not to mention the fact that older fans will come back, and you might just get new fans as well if the show went back to being edgy.

I don't see people plopping down the cash to see Blue like they do the Sopranos.
Besides, Blue is a 20CF show, so if it went to cable, it would go to F/X. Do you believe that Michael Chiklis, Julian McMahon or Dennis Leary is making what Dennis Franz currently makes?

Yet another great episode.
I understand that some of ABC's new shows are doing well, but still seems very wrong for a show this good to end with all the junk out there. Oh well, All good things, as they say...
