Star Wars:KOTOR -- I can't believe how.....
I bought Star Wars: KOTOR(not the sequel) used at EBgames this past weekend. Let me say first...I am not a big RPG fan...never have been.
I can't believe how great that this game is. This is one of the greatest games I have ever played, and I am only like 7 hours into it. And from what I hear...it is supposed to get better and better. I have not been this excited to play a game in a long time. I have just reached the Jedi Council and I am fixing to become a Jedi ....I can't wait to get home from work to finally get my lightsaber and go through the Jedi training. This game makes you feel like you are a part of the Star Wars universe...it is an unbelievable experience. Another thing that makes the game so enjoyable is the "save anywhere" feature...which takes all of the frustration out of the game in my opinion and adds to the fun factor. I know this game is probably an old subject to everyone here and everyone is probably playing through or finished with the sequel. What are you thoughts?

the strange thing is, the same thing happened to me. I'm not into rpg games and what not but played it for a weekend once and it was all I could think about. I got to the exact same part you did and had to go to work. I couldn't wait until I got home to play it, but for some reason, I haven't picked it up since. Weird. Either way, I watched a friend play it (who is on the last mission) and it does get better and better.

I am not an RPG fan either but I loved this game. I plan to pick up the sequel but Halo2 is taking all my free game time right now.

I love the lightsaber. I just run around everywhere twirling it.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Not big on RPG's but this game is just crazy fun. I'm still only like 5 hours into it and I cannot for the life of me decide if I want to play through as light or dark. I'm actually thinking about playing through the game as both light and dark at the same time (two different saves, 2 hours playing good, 2 playing bad...something like that).

I don't know if i would play it that way...I can see it now...you may get screwed up saving sometime and overwrite light side when you want to overwrite darkside and vice versa. It also seems like that wouldn't be as fun playing as both at the same time...it prevents you from getting deeply involved with a side. It might be better just to play through it again as dark or light. But it's a free country...do what you want.

I loved the game, but mainly for the SW atmosphere and great story. The gameplay was good but not great IMO (I'd have prefered japanese style menu driven battles, auto pause just wasn't quite the same).
I'm hesistant to get the sequel as most reviews say the story is weak.

Anticipation for this and Doom3 are about the only reasons I'm considering picking up an Xbox. We've been waffling since Thanksgiving, and I think we're going to take the plunge soon.
Slighty OT, but I notice Jedi Outcast for the X and the Cube are still expensive even used. Is it rare? Is it worth getting?
thanks

this game was one of the reasons why I picked up an Xbox in the first place. I am not a big fan of RPGs either, minus Chrono Trigger and some of the Final Fantasy Games, but I loved KOTOR. as others have said after you get a lightsaber and some sweet force powers things get more interesting.

The combat is more active. You just press some buttons and pick what you want the characters to do and they do it. There is an option to auto-pause which will stop the combat and allow you to cycle through each character and set up their next attacks, but it's a little clunky compared to just having an FF style menu battle system IMO. But some people greatly prefer (usually those that don't care for Japanese RPGs from what I've gathered).

I am now about 25 hours into the game now....this game is incredible. I usually don't put that amount of time into a game in a 1 week time span. Can't wait to play it again tonight. How many hours total is the game??? I don't do every side quest..but I do a few.

I played 40-50 hrs on the first time through, and then 25 hrs to play through as dark side. The dark side wasn't really as interesting as I thought it would be but still worth doing.
